PaladinMod: setup & first test

1. Install the tools (one time)

1. Visual Studio 2022 Community (free). In the installer, tick ".NET desktop development".
2. r2modman (mod manager). Pick Valheim, create a profile, and install:
   • BepInExPack_Valheim
   • Jotunn
3. Launch Valheim once via r2modman's Start modded so BepInEx creates its folders, then close it.

2. Open and build

1. Put this PaladinMod folder somewhere handy (e.g. Documents\ValheimMods).
2. Open PaladinMod.csproj in Visual Studio.
3. Edit the two paths at the top of the .csproj:
   • ValheimDir: your Valheim install folder.
   • BepInExDir: in r2modman, Settings → Browse profile folder, then the BepInEx folder inside.
4. Press Ctrl+Shift+B to build. The DLL is copied into your profile's plugins\PaladinMod automatically.

3. Test in-game

1. Start modded via r2modman and load a test world (not your main save).
2. Press F5, type devcommands, then spawn ShieldPaladin.
3. Eat some Eitr food (Mistlands foods, e.g. Yggdrasil porridge, Misthare supreme). Without Eitr the aura can't run.
4. Equip the shield and hold block: every second you pay Eitr and heal everyone within 8 m. Tip: god off and let a Greyling nibble you to see the heals.
5. The recipe appears at the Black Forge once you've collected the materials (Black Metal, Silver, Refined Eitr).

4. Tuning without rebuilding

After one launch, edit BepInEx\config\com.yourname.paladinmod.cfg: radius, heal amount, Eitr cost, VFX, tint.

If something breaks

• Open BepInEx\LogOutput.log and look for PaladinMod or red errors. Send me the error lines.
• Build error about a missing method or "inaccessible due to protection level": tell me the exact message; usually a small fix (or we add a publicized Valheim assembly).
