DeathRecap
Find out exactly what killed you: the killing blow, damage by attacker and type, and every hit from your last 30 seconds. Friends' graves show on your map until they get their things back.DeathRecap
A clear account of every death: the killing blow, the damage broken down by attacker and type, and every hit from your last seconds.
Dying in Valheim often leaves you guessing what actually happened. DeathRecap records the damage you take and, when you die, shows exactly where it came from. It also marks other players' graves on your map, so a group always knows where to go to help.
Features
- Killing blow. Who or what dealt it, and how much damage it did.
- Damage by attacker. Creatures with their star level, other players, and the world itself: falls, drowning, burning, poison, freezing, smoke, lava, the boiling Ashlands sea, falling trees, collapsing building pieces and more.
- Damage by type. Blunt, slash, pierce, fire, frost, lightning, poison and spirit, before armour and resistances.
- Hit timeline. Every hit from the last 30 seconds (configurable), newest first: when it landed, how much health it took compared with how hard it hit (showing what armour and blocking stopped), and the health left after it.
- Graves of other players. When another player dies, a message says who died and in which biome, and their grave is marked with a skull on your map until they have recovered their items. Players who join later see the graves too.
- Graves on the portal map. With TargetPortal, your graves and the other players' graves show on the map a portal opens, even with its Hide map pins on. Click one to travel there, the same way you travel to a portal.

Multiplayer
- The recap is client-side. Each player who wants it installs it, whether they host or join.
- Grave markers, death messages and graves on the portal map need DeathRecap on the host (or the dedicated server) as well, because the host keeps track of every grave. The host's Share graves setting turns them off for everyone.
- Players without the mod are not affected.
Compatibility
DeathRecap only reads the damage the game deals and adds a window and map markers. It does not change combat, drops or graves.
With TargetPortal (made for its version 1.2.7), graves are added to its portal map and a click on one travels there; without it, nothing changes.
Uninstalling
Nothing is saved to the world or the character (grave markers are not saved either), so the mod can be removed at any time.
