DeathRecap
Find out exactly what killed you: the killing blow, damage by attacker and type, and every hit from your last 30 seconds. Friends' graves show on your map until they get their things back.DeathRecap
Find out exactly what killed you, and see where your friends died.
DeathRecap records the damage you take. When you die, a What killed you window shows:
- The killing blow: who or what dealt it, and how much.
- Damage by attacker: creatures with their star level, other players or the world itself. That covers falls, drowning, burning, poison, freezing, smoke, lava, the boiling Ashlands sea, falling trees, falling building pieces and more.
- Damage by type: blunt, slash, pierce, fire, frost, lightning, poison and spirit, before armour and resistances.
- Every hit from your last seconds (30 by default), newest first: when it landed, how much it took off you compared with how hard it hit (so you can see what your armour and block stopped), and the health you had left.
Your friends' graves on your map. When another player dies, you're told who and in which biome, and their grave gets a skull on your map. It stays until they've taken their things back. Players who join later see the graves too. This needs DeathRecap on the host, and the host can turn it off for everyone.
How to use
- The window opens by itself when you die and closes when you respawn.
Endopens your last recap again at any time, or closes it.
Settings (anwo.DeathRecap.cfg)
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Recap key | End | Opens or closes the last recap |
| Show on death | true | Open the recap automatically when you die |
| Keep open after respawn | false | Keep the window open after you're back |
| Seconds of history | 30 | How far back the recap goes (5-300) |
| Max hits listed | 25 | Length of the hit list |
| Scale | 1 | Size of the window |
| Show graves of other players | true | Skull pins on your map where the others died. Needs the mod on the host |
| Announce deaths | true | Says on screen and in the chat when another player dies, and where. Works with or without the pins. Needs the mod on the host |
| Share graves | true | Set by the host. Off: no grave pins or death messages for anyone |
All settings except Share graves are each player's own.
Multiplayer
The recap is client-side: each player who wants it installs it, whether they host or join.
The graves on the map and the death messages need DeathRecap on the host (or the dedicated server) too, because the host is the one that knows where every grave is. The host's Share graves turns them off for everyone. Players without the mod aren't affected.
Removing the mod
Nothing is saved anywhere (the grave pins aren't saved either), so you can remove it at any time.
