LoadBearing

Shows the structural support of every building piece around you at once, in the game's own colours, and repairs a whole area in one click.

The game colours a building piece by its support only while the hammer points at it. LoadBearing applies the same colours to every piece within 30 m, so weak beams and overhangs stand out before they collapse. It also lets ZenRedecorate move building pieces, not only furniture.

Features

  • Support view. Every building piece within 30 m (configurable) shows its support, from blue (on the ground) to red (about to fall).
  • Live updates. Pieces are recoloured as their support changes, closest pieces first.
  • Weak spots only. The Support filter can hide strong pieces and grounded ones, so only the problem areas stay coloured.
  • Area repair. Shift + click with the hammer's repair tool repairs every damaged piece around the aimed one, for the cost of a single repair.
  • Moving building pieces. With ZenRedecorate installed, walls, floors, beams and other building pieces can be moved like furniture.

How to use

  1. Press Insert to switch the support view on. The colours show whenever the hammer is out and disappear when you put it away (the hoe and cultivator do not count). If the hammer is not out yet, the message says so.
  2. Press Insert again to switch the view off. The view is off each time you load the game, unless On at start is set.
Key Action
Insert Switch the support view on or off
Shift + click With the hammer's repair tool: repair every damaged piece in the area
Colour Meaning
Blue Resting on the ground (full support)
Green Strong
Yellow / orange Getting weak
Red About to fall

To see only the weak spots, lower Support filter: at 0.25, only pieces close to falling are coloured.

Area repair

Select the hammer's repair tool and hold Shift (the Area repair key) while you click. Every damaged piece within 10 m of the piece you aim at (or of you, if you aim at nothing) is repaired at once.

  • The game's rules still apply to each piece: its crafting station must be nearby (the workbench for wood, the stonecutter for stone), and pieces in a ward you cannot use are skipped. A message says how many were repaired and why any were left.
  • One click costs the stamina and hammer wear of a single repair. Without Shift, the hammer repairs one piece as usual.

Moving building pieces

With ZenRedecorate installed, building pieces are moved with its own controls, like furniture, and a message warns that anything resting on them may fall. Pieces around the old and new place work out their support again, and fall if nothing else holds them up. ZenRedecorate's own rules (wards, distance, its deny list) still apply.

Multiplayer

  • Client-side. Only the players who want it install it, whether they host or join. Versions do not need to match, and players without it are not affected.
  • Support values come from the game, so they are correct for pieces built by anyone.
  • Area repair uses the game's own repair, so the pieces are repaired for everyone.

Compatibility

LoadBearing colours pieces with the game's own highlight; support itself works as usual. ZenRedecorate is optional; without it, Move building pieces has no effect.

Patches: WearNTear.ResetHighlight, Player.Repair (only while the area repair key is held) and, when installed, ZenRedecorate's move checks.

Uninstalling

LoadBearing adds nothing to the world and saves nothing, so it can be removed at any time. Pieces moved with ZenRedecorate stay where they were placed.
