WellStocked

Real shops for Valheim's traders: Haldor sells most items in the game, and every trader buys your loot, posts orders and offers services.

In the base game Haldor sells a short list of goods and buys only valuables. WellStocked turns the traders into working shops: almost every item can be bought once you have found it, priced by how long it takes to gather, and what you carry can be sold or delivered for orders. Daily deals, limited stock and trader demand, shared by everyone in the world, keep coins worth earning.

Features

Shop

  • Most items for sale. Haldor sells raw materials, metals, food, meads, ammo, weapons, armour, tools, seeds and trophies, including items from other mods. His own goods and items other mods give him stay.
  • Unlocked as you go. An item goes on sale once you have held it or know its recipe, for each player separately. Or by bosses (Black Forest goods after Eikthyr, up to Deep North after Fader), both, or neither.
  • Never for sale. Boss drops, boss summoning items, upgrade idols, valuables, quest items and items that cannot be obtained. Gear only if it can be crafted or bought somewhere.
  • Bell fragments after all. A world has only a few bell fragments, in the Ashlands fortresses, and they never come back. Once the Queen is dead, Haldor sells them at the price of the Ashlands' rarest things, one at a time, enough for one summon per restock. The host can add other boss summons and keys, or none.
  • Easy to browse. Category tabs, a search box, sorting and a details panel. A bought item stays selected.

Selling

  • Sell tab. Every trader buys what you carry for 30% of the shop price: the lowest price any trader asks. Goods other mods add to a trader ask WellStocked's price where it has one, so nothing bought at one trader pays more at another. What you wear or hold is never offered. Upgraded gear pays half again per quality level; wear does not matter, since repairing is free.
  • Valuables. Amber, rubies, necklaces and the like are listed first, in gold, and always pay their full worth. The game's own Sell button, which sells one stack of valuables per click, is a wide Sell valuables button at the bottom of the details panel, in the Buy and Sell tabs.
  • Trader demand. Each day a trader pays full price for about 500 coins' worth of one item, then half, a quarter and an eighth, then no more until tomorrow (counted for everyone together). A mix of loot sells as usual; a farm of high-star animals no longer buys the whole shop.
  • No profit from deals. Selling and orders pay at most 95% of the cheapest deal price.

Orders and big orders

  • Daily orders. Each trader posts four orders a day for a pile of one material, food or trophy from the biomes opened, at most about half a day's gathering. An order pays 57% of the shop price, almost twice what selling pays. Things that take over 30 minutes to get one of, or of unknown source, are never ordered.
  • Shared delivery. Orders are the same for everyone. Anyone can bring part; whoever brings the last ones gets the whole reward.
  • Big orders. Each trader also has two, listed first: four times an order of something from the two furthest biomes opened, up for three days and paying the full shop price. What was brought for an unfilled one is lost.
  • Not sold while wanted. No trader sells what a big order wants until it is filled.

Deals and stock

  • Daily deals. Each day Haldor has four goods 20% to 40% off, 1 to 3 of each for everyone (a gear deal is a single piece), in their own Deals tab. A deal can show an item you have not found yet, but not before the boss that opens its biome is dead.
  • Limited stock. Every good runs out until the trader restocks, once a week by default, at every trader and including their own goods. The details panel says how many are left and when the next restock is.
  • Stock size. Cheap goods by the pile (up to 10 stacks, such as 200 wood), a 1000-coin stack 3 times, a 3000-coin stack once, never more than about an hour of one player's gathering (about 10 surtling cores, 50 iron or 2 black cores a week). Gear: 2 of each piece, 1 above 750 coins.

Services

Services take effect at once. Prices are base prices; each boss defeated in the world adds half the base price. With the map turned off (a world without a map), A traveller's map and Read your fortune are not offered.

  • Haldor. Pack mule's luck: carry 150 more for an hour (80 coins). Mend your gear: repairs everything you carry and wear, anywhere (25). A traveller's map: your map opens; click any spot and the land 500 m around it is uncovered (50). Unused sketches wait for your next click; a double-click to place a pin does not use one.
  • Hildir. Light step: running and jumping cost a third less stamina for 40 minutes (60). Warm lining: frost resistant for 40 minutes, so you do not freeze (80). Mend your gear (25).
  • Bog Witch. Witch's insight: skills grow 50% faster for 30 minutes (120). Read your fortune: marks the nearest altar of the next unbeaten boss, from 150 coins for Eikthyr to 13410 for the Deep North's boss; never charged for an altar your map already shows, and the coins come back if she finds none in your world. Wake your Forsaken power: ready again at once (150).
  • Blessings. Timed services last through logging out but end when you die. One at a time: a different one replaces yours; buying the same again adds its time, up to three times as long.

Prices

  • Gathering time. Every raw material was timed by simulating gathering trips in a real world with the game's drop tables, rock and tree health, tool tiers and spawn rates, travel, searching and fighting included.
  • The rule. Each biome has a unit price: 3 coins in the Meadows, 1.9 times more per biome (about 140 in the Ashlands). A raw material costs half a unit plus one unit for every 3 minutes it takes to get one, counting at most 30 minutes.
  • Examples. Wood about 1.6 coins, iron scrap (about 50 seconds) 8.5, a surtling core 12, a black core 600, a gemstone about 1500.
  • Dungeons. Each crypt, chamber, cave or mine costs its own time to find and clear, and some hold little; a burial chamber gives about 4 surtling cores. The surtling core's time is set by hand to 5 minutes, as players find fewer early on.
  • Everything else. Farmable things count halfway between hunting and farming. Made things cost their ingredients and fuel plus a markup for the work. Things only a trader sells keep that trader's price, and Dyrnwyn, whose pieces lie once in a world, is priced as a legend.
  • Price list. The stock is built when you enter a world and listed, with left-out items, in BepInEx/config/anwo.WellStocked.prices.txt.

How to use

  1. Open a trader. The tabs Buy, Sell, Orders and Services sit above the window.
  2. In Buy and Sell, pick a category tab on the left (each shows its line count), search or sort.
  3. Select a line; the details panel on the right explains it. Press the window's main button. Buy all (Buy tab) and Sell 1 (Sell tab) sit just below the window, under that button.

Search filters every tab by name. While you type, the window's keys (E, Esc) are left alone.

Multiplayer

  • Everyone who wants the shop installs it, and so does the host or dedicated server, which sets every rule except 2 - Window and syncs it to all players.
  • Shared counts. The host keeps what has been bought, sold and delivered (in BepInEx/config/anwo.WellStocked.ledger.<world>.txt) and shares it. Deals and orders come from the world, day and trader, so everyone with the same mods sees the same ones. Goods other mods add to a trader count too, so players with different mod lists can see different deals.
  • Without WellStocked on the host, each player keeps their own counts in their own file, so one player buying the last of a good does not use it up for others.
  • Versions. Players without the mod can join and see the normal shop. Players with it need the host's major and minor version (any 1.2.x), but the shop can differ between versions, so everyone should be on the same one.

Compatibility

The stock is built from the game's own data (recipes, stations, spawn lists, plants, trees and rocks), so items from other mods are included when their origin can be worked out. Where another mod lists the same item at a trader with extra stock, WellStocked's price is used. Goods other mods add to a trader (Seasonality's, for one) cost WellStocked's price at every trader when it has one (a gemstone 1480 with the default settings, not the 1000 another mod may ask); only the price changes, and goods WellStocked does not sell keep the other mod's price (Our prices for goods from other mods). Selling and orders pay a share of the lowest price any trader asks, and big orders never want what a trader sells. The extra buttons and panel are copies of the game's own; if they cannot be built, the plain window is used.

Patches: Trader.GetAvailableItems (runs last), the trader window (StoreGui), large-map clicks while you hold a map sketch, and Minimap.DiscoverLocation (only watched, for a fortune's pin).

Uninstalling

Nothing is added to the world. Bought items stay, and so do map areas and altars uncovered by services. A character keeps two small entries (an active blessing, unused map sketches) that do nothing without the mod. The ledger and price list files in BepInEx/config can be deleted.
