Rowing for ships: sit on a longship, karve or drakkar bench and pull the oars. Oars go through each hull's real oar ports and splash where they meet the water; a crew of rowers goes faster and steers by side. Stamina, rower HUD, controllers.
First release: sit on a rowing bench of the Karve, Longship or Drakkar and row. W / S (or the controller stick) shift your stroke: oars up, easy stroke, pull hard, back water. More rowers go faster, each oar pushes from its own side so a crew can steer by rowing, and rowing costs stamina.
Each ship has its own oar in its own wood. The Longship's and the Drakkar's go through the hull's real oar ports; the Karve's ride in a small wooden oarlock on the gunwale. Blades turn flat in the air and upright in the water, and the stroke follows the water's real height, so a heeled or heavily loaded ship's blades still reach it.
Splashes happen only where a blade really meets the water.
The ghost shown while a ship is placed with the hammer has its oars out too.
An oar slides out of its port when its rower starts and back in when they stop (setting "Oars at rest"), and can ship itself while the ship sails ("Ship the oars under sail").
The rower sees the stroke arrows by their oarlock and an oar icon under the minimap; the wind indicator is hidden for a rower and stays at the helm.
The hint shows your own key bindings and the controller's stick.
The server decides how the ship rows (strength, thrust, stamina, turning, oar position, seats); what only changes how things look stays each player's own.
