Craft and build from the chests around you, without taking anything out of them first.

Valheim only spends materials from your backpack. Andvari lets stations and the hammer take what they need from nearby storage as well.

What It Does

• Every crafting station: workbench, forge, cauldron, artisan table, stonecutter, galdr table, and stations other mods add
• Crafting, upgrading and repairing
• Build costs for the hammer, hoe and cultivator
• Item Drawers, carts and ships all count as nearby storage

Your backpack is used first. Chests only cover what is missing.

Totals In The Crafting Panel

The crafting panel shows how much of each material is within reach, above the cost of the recipe. The number turns red when even the chests cannot cover the cost.

Turn it off with ShowTotals.

Keeping A Chest Out Of It

Open a chest and tick Not For Crafting in the corner of its window. No station will spend from that chest again, including your own. Use it for materials you are saving.

Only the player who ticked it can untick it. Anyone else opening that chest sees whose lock it is. Server admins can clear a lock.

Locking a chest does not change anything else about it. You can still open it and take things out by hand.

Other GBV mods honour the same tick, so a chest ticked once is protected from all of them. Runemark's Runestone needs 0.4.6 or newer.

Which Chests It Uses

Andvari only uses a chest you could walk up and open yourself. It is skipped when:

• It is ticked Not For Crafting, whoever ticked it
• A ward covers it that does not permit you
• It is set to Private and somebody else built it
• Somebody else has it open right now
• It is further away than Range

Nothing is moved or rearranged. Your inventory is not touched.

Settings

BepInEx/config/gbv.valheim.andvari.cfg, or the Configuration Manager in game. Changes take effect straight away.

Range is measured from you rather than from the station.

If Something Looks Wrong

Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for a line starting Andvari:. It says at startup how many of its five parts attached. All five means it is working. Fewer means a Valheim update has moved something, and the log names the part and what you will notice. That is worth reporting.

If a chest is being ignored, check it against the list above.

MultiUserChest: two people crafting from the same chest at the same moment has had little testing. Report anything odd.

Installing

Client only. A server install does nothing, and other players do not need it.
