ExtinguishedCampfire
Hold a key while placing a campfire to place it unlit, with no fuel and for less wood. Useful with the Fire Hazard world modifier. Campfires stay vanilla, so players without the mod see them.Extinguished Campfire
Place a campfire unlit. Hold a key while placing a campfire and it goes down with no fuel, so it can't start fires. Add fuel to it later to light it as usual.
The campfire stays the game's own prefab, so players without the mod see and load it.
How it works
Hold PlaceUnlitKey (Left Ctrl by default) while placing the Campfire from the Hammer:
- It is placed with no fuel. Adding fuel lights it as normal.
- The build menu shows an unlit campfire icon, and the name and description from the config (by default "Extinguished Campfire" and "Useful for spawn-proofing"), while the key is held.
- The normal wood cost is reduced by the fuel a new campfire starts with, taking the Campfire from 5 stone and 2 wood to 5 stone and 1 wood.
Want to place your extinguished campfires a little underground to make them less obvious? Turn on SinkIntoGround
in the config (it is off by default) and campfires placed with the key held are placed SinkDepth lower (0.1 m unless you
change it).
Configuration
BepInEx/config/irti.extinguishedcampfire.cfg, created the first time the game starts with the mod.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
PlaceUnlitKey |
Left Ctrl | Hold while placing a campfire to place it with no fuel and for less wood. |
UnlitName |
Extinguished Campfire | The build menu name while the key is held. |
UnlitDescription |
Useful for spawn-proofing | The build menu description while the key is held. |
SinkIntoGround |
false | Place the campfire a little lower in the ground when placed with the key held. |
SinkDepth |
0.1 | How far, in meters, to sink it when SinkIntoGround is on. 0 to 0.2: deeper than that and the game treats the campfire as covered by terrain, so it breaks. |
The name and description are plain text, not translated.
Multiplayer
Only the player placing the campfire needs the mod. Built campfires are vanilla, so other players and servers need nothing.
Known issues
- The name and description change in the build menu only; a placed campfire is still called "Campfire" when you point at it.
- If Left Ctrl is used by another mod while building, change
PlaceUnlitKey.
Removing the mod
Placed campfires stay in the world as normal campfires.
