ExploredMapTeleport
Standard-map teleport to explored ground or shallow water, with nearby landing checks and vanilla item restrictions.Explored Map Teleport
0.3.0 public beta · MIT · BepInEx 5
Click the standard map to teleport to explored ground or shallow water. If the clicked spot is unsafe, the mod checks nearby landing points before giving up.
Installation
Requires denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.2351.
Install with r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager and launch through Start modded. To install a downloaded ZIP, use Settings > Import local mod. Close Valheim before installing or updating. Do not import a source archive as a mod, and do not install duplicate copies of the DLL.
For manual installation, copy plugins/Valheim.MapTeleport.dll into
BepInEx/plugins with BepInEx installed.
How to use
- Open the full-size map (
M). - Enable Map teleport (explored) above the public-position checkbox.
- Single-left-click an explored location.
- The map closes and the normal teleport loading screen begins.
The toggle starts OFF and resets when you close the map or request a teleport. With it OFF, normal pin interaction is unchanged. Holding/dragging still pans the map; right/middle clicks retain their normal behavior. Personal exploration and shared cartography-table exploration both count.
Landing rules
- Normal item and world teleport restrictions still apply.
- You cannot select fogged locations or points outside the configured boundary.
- Teleporting is unavailable while dead, in an interior/cutscene, attached to or controlling a vehicle, or already teleporting.
- Default limits allow 1 metre of water above the terrain and 55-degree terrain slopes. Water depth is measured against mean water level, not from the player's head. You land near the ground, not on the water surface.
- The exact click is checked first, followed by 8 directions at 45-degree intervals on 4 m and 8 m rings: up to 16 alternatives. The smaller ring is tried first, and the first suitable point is used.
- Every landing centre must be explored, loaded, inside the boundary, lava-free, within water/slope limits and clear of standing-player obstructions.
- If no suitable point is found or loading times out, the teleport is refused or you are returned to your starting point.
The nearby search samples specific points; it does not examine every position inside the search radius. Terrain raised by players may be rejected if it appears too deep in the terrain estimate before loading.
Configuration
Use your mod manager's Config editor, or edit:
BepInEx/config/kenjorissen.mods.exploredmapteleport.cfg
| Setting | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
General.Enabled |
true |
Show the map control; the toggle still starts OFF. |
Safety.MaximumSlopeDegrees |
55 |
Maximum slope; range 10–70 degrees. |
Safety.MaximumWaterDepthMetres |
1 |
Maximum water depth; range 0–2 m. Zero requires ground more than 0.3 m above water level. |
Safety.SearchNearby |
true |
Try nearby points; false requires the exact click. |
Safety.InnerSearchRadiusMetres |
4 |
Search ring radius; range 1–16 m. |
Safety.OuterSearchRadiusMetres |
8 |
Search ring radius; range 1–16 m. Smaller radius first; equal radii produce one ring. |
Safety.MaximumWorldRadius |
10000 |
Boundary radius in metres; adjust only for an expanded world. |
No setting bypasses item restrictions. Use only where the server permits map teleporting; this is not a server-enforced permissions system.
Safety and compatibility
Back up important saves. Landing checks reduce risk, not eliminate it. Steep slopes can cause sliding; waves can make water deeper than the mean-level allowance, and swimming or stamina loss is possible. Enemies, weather, modded hazards and later terrain changes remain risks. Deep-water travel and building-interior landings are not supported.
Gameplay tested on Windows, Valheim 1.0.17 / Unity 6 / BepInEx 5.4.23.5 with other mods installed. Tests included shallow-water landing, nearby relocation, and fog/deep-water rejection. Not every terrain limit or failure case has been manually tested. Linux gameplay, dedicated servers and all multiplayer, controller or map-mod combinations are not verified. This is a public beta.
