Dynamic Storage Materials adds functional storage piles for many of Valheim's common crafting materials and resources.
Each pile acts as a real container restricted to its matching resource, while its appearance grows and changes as the storage fills. Instead of another wall of chests, your stored materials can become part of your base.
Storage capacity is server-controlled, while individual pile appearances can be customised and saved separately.

Recommended Mods
BepInEx ConfigDrawers is highly recommended for a cleaner in-game configuration interface.
I also recommend OdinsFoodBarrels, another excellent themed storage mod that fits very naturally alongside the Dynamic Storage mods.

Dynamic Storage Materials currently adds storage piles for:

Dynamic Visual Filling
As items are added or removed, each pile changes its visible fill level while continuing to function as normal storage.
The Looks Full At setting lets you control how quickly a pile reaches its maximum visible size without changing its actual storage capacity.
Pile Appearance Editor
Dynamic Storage Materials includes a built-in Pile Appearance Editor for changing piles after they have been placed.
The editor is disabled by default and must first be enabled in the mod options:
Appearance Editor → Pile Appearance Editor
Once enabled:
- Change the appearance settings for the material you want to edit.
- Look directly at an existing Dynamic Storage Materials pile.
- Press R to apply the current appearance settings.
Options include layout, scale, model, material, finish, vertical offset and visual fill behaviour.
Appearance settings act as templates for newly placed piles. Once placed or edited, each pile saves its own appearance, so multiple piles of the same material can look different.
Server Configuration
Dynamic Storage Materials uses ServerSync for storage capacity.
On a dedicated server, install the mod and its dependencies and start the server once. BepInEx will generate:
BepInEx/config/com.muji.DynamicStorageMaterials.cfg
The server's value is authoritative and synchronised to connecting clients.
Server-Synchronised Settings

Reducing the configured capacity will not delete existing items. A pile keeps enough inventory space for its current contents until they fit within the new limit.
Appearance settings are saved per placed piece and are separate from the server-controlled storage capacity.

Installation
Thunderstore / r2modman
Install Dynamic Storage Materials through your preferred Thunderstore-compatible mod manager. Required dependencies should be installed automatically.
Manual Installation
Install BepInEx and Jötunn, then place:
