🏃 Movement

A fluid movement-expansion mod for Valheim focused on moment-to-moment mobility. Dash, Overdrive, Double Jump, Wall Kick, Blink, and Landing Roll - with a naturally built in movement progressional ladder.


CORE
  • Dash, Overdrive, Double Jump, Wall Kick, Blink, and Landing Roll abilities
  • Designed for fluid traversal and reactive movement
  • Works in single-player and dedicated servers
  • Progression-gated abilities (boss keys)
  • Stamina-based costs to preserve balance
  • Minimal networking assumptions to avoid desync
  • Stable under high-mobility playstyles
ABILITIES

Dash

  • Short burst of horizontal movement
  • Configurable stamina cost and cooldown
  • Optional air usage
  • Ground dash uses a short impulse burst for smooth feel

Overdrive

  • Temporary movement speed boost
  • Duration and cooldown configurable
  • Uses a StatusEffect for clean lifecycle handling

Double Jump

  • Mid-air upward jump
  • Optional encumbrance restriction
  • Resets on landing

Wall Kick

  • Jump off nearby walls while airborne
  • Directionally aware
  • Includes cooldown and stamina cost

Blink

  • Short-range teleport
  • Obstacle-aware with fallback burst if blocked
  • Supports air usage with configurable multipliers

Landing Roll

  • Skill-timed fall damage mitigation
  • Reduces fall damage and adds forward momentum
  • Roll timing window is configurable
  • Safely handled on dedicated servers using owner-only damage adjustment
PROGRESSION

Each ability can be gated behind a boss global key.

By default:

  • Dash → Eikthyr
  • Overdrive → Elder
  • Double Jump → Bonemass
  • Landing Roll → Moder
  • Wall Kick → Yagluth
  • Blink → Queen

Progression can be disabled entirely via config for sandbox or creative servers.

CONFIGS

Configurable options include:

  • Ability enable/disable toggles
  • Stamina costs and cooldowns
  • Power, range, and timing values
  • Progression requirements
  • Visual effects per ability
  • Audio enable/volume
  • Debug and testing commands

Notes

  • Config changes require a restart
  • Server restart required for dedicated servers
  • VFX and audio are optional and fully configurable
SERVERS
  • Designed to work reliably on dedicated servers
  • Cooldowns and roll intent stored via player ZDOs where applicable
  • Landing Roll fall-damage mitigation handled safely for dedicated servers
  • Other abilities prioritize responsiveness and stability over strict enforcement

Important

  • This mod intentionally avoids heavy server-authoritative movement control
  • Movement remains primarily client-driven to prevent desync and jitter
  • Admins are given light, safe control knobs, not brittle enforcement systems
CONTROLS

Default hotkeys (keyboard)

  • DashShift + E
  • BlinkShift + Q
  • OverdriveShift + R
  • Double Jump — Press Jump again while airborne (controller + keyboard)
  • Wall Kick / Landing Roll ArmSpace while airborne
    (Wall Kick attempts first, then Landing Roll intent is armed)

Notes

  • Controller users can map buttons to the modifier + keys (ex: LBumperShift, then BE for Dash, etc.)
CONSOLE COMMANDS
  • mv_bypass on|off
    Temporarily bypass progression requirements

  • mv_unlock <ability|all|none>
    Unlock abilities for testing

  • mv_status
    Show current progression and debug state

  • mv_vfx <prefabName>
    Spawn a VFX prefab at your position

  • mv_vfx_find <term> [limit]
    Search available VFX prefabs

  • mv_vfx_list
    List currently configured VFX names
