TheReef
The Reef - private realm modpack for Valheim 1.0: the Reef's companion plugin, config manager, Equipment & Quick Slots 3.1.1, Jotunn (Reef build) and Advanced Portals; the other third-party mods return as their authors ship 1.0 builds. The Reef — realm modpack
One package for the friends of The Reef: install it in r2modman (or Thunderstore Mod Manager) on the Valheim game, select the profile, press Play. It pulls what the server runs, pinned to the exact versions the server runs.
0.6.0 — portals are back, on the Reef's own Jötunn build (2026-09-09)
Two more mods return: Advanced Portals (the tiered portals — which metals a portal carries is decided
by the server, boss by boss) and the library it needs, Jötunn. The Jötunn team has not shipped a
Valheim 1.0 build yet, so the pack carries ReefTeam-Jotunn 2.29.3: upstream 2.29.2 rebuilt by
The Reef for 1.0.7 (MIT, source linked on its page). r2modman will also pull the official
ValheimModding-Jotunn 2.29.2 as a dependency of other mods; that is expected — the loader keeps the
higher version and skips 2.29.2 (one line in your log says so). Equipment & Quick Slots moves to 3.1.1
(a duplication fix). Update the profile in place — r2modman shows "update available". When the Jötunn
team ships its own 1.0 build, the pack will pin it and drop the Reef build.
0.5.0 — first author 1.0 build back (2026-09-09)
Equipment & Quick Slots is back: its author shipped a Valheim 1.0 build the same day, and it was proven in play on the Reef's test bench before entering the pack (armor, cape, utility and trinket slots, Z V B quick slots). Update the 0.4.0 profile in place — r2modman shows "update available". Everything below about 0.4.0 still applies to the other mods: they return one by one as their authors ship 1.0 builds.
0.4.0 — Valheim 1.0 launch edition (2026-09-09)
Valheim 1.0 changed the game's code enough that every third-party mod of the previous pack broke — some at boot, some the moment you open the hammer. None of their authors had shipped a 1.0 build on launch morning. So the launch pack carries only what we own and proved on Valheim 1.0.7: the game plays vanilla, and the Reef's director keeps its hands.
| Mod | Why |
|---|---|
| BepInExPack_Valheim | the loader |
| ConfigurationManager | F1 to see the configs |
| ReefClient | the Reef's own companion: Odin's favor counter under the minimap (hidden until your first favor), the director's sky and wind on your screen, and your chat reaches the director even when you play alone. No gameplay change |
Retired until their authors ship a 1.0 build, then back one by one (each proven on our sandbox first, then a pack update): CreatureLevelAndLootControl, ServerCharacters, AzuCraftyBoxes, PlantEverything, Farming, AdvancedPortals (+ Jotunn), EquipmentAndQuickSlots, AdventureBackpacks (+ YamlDotNet), FoodCustomizer.
If you had 0.3.0 installed: make a NEW profile and install TheReef 0.4.0 in it. Updating the pack in the old profile keeps the retired mods installed, and a 0.3.0 profile on Valheim 1.0 breaks in game (hammer, inventory, camera). The new profile must show exactly the three mods above.
Rules
- Do not add other mods to this profile: the director's tools count on the roster above, and a mod built for the old game breaks yours.
- When the pack updates, r2modman shows "update available" — take it before joining.
- Problems: tell Synistro on Discord with the mod manager's log (
Settings > Browse profile folder > BepInEx/LogOutput.log).
