Rusty Heathens QoL: inventory and gear slots, Rusty Backpack, nearby crafting, auto repair, food tools, grave markers, craft audit, and achievements during modded play.Rusty Heathens QoL
Inventory improvements, Rusty Backpack, nearby-box crafting and everyday tools for Valheim.
New in 1.0.10
Crafting material numbers now show available / required, combining the items in your inventory with nearby usable boxes. For example, 10 wood carried plus 24 in boxes displays 34/8 when the recipe needs 8 wood. The on-you/box line and hover breakdown remain available.
Features
- Six-row main inventory with dedicated equipment, utility, trinket, ammo and food slots.
- Rusty Backpack with progression: 16 slots initially, 24 after Eikthyr and 32 after The Elder, with the existing 16/8 settings. Capacity stops at four rows.
- Nearby crafting with material counts and access checks, including crafting from a box another player has open when participating peers use the updated mod.
- P Quick Stack stores eligible materials into nearby usable boxes that already contain that material. Unmatched items and overflow stay in your inventory.
- Proximity auto repair, food tools, character preview, gear-grave markers and craft audit.
- Map/inventory overlap protection and guards against unintended hotbar use while moving items.
- Modded achievement eligibility support. Normal character, item and world requirements still apply; achievements are not automatically awarded.
Installation and updates
Requires BepInExPack Valheim. Install RustyHeathensQoL through Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman.
For shared-server features, install the same version on the server and every participating player, including players who open resource boxes. Close Valheim and stop the server before updating. Keep your existing configuration and only one active RustyHeathensQoL.dll per installation.
For manual installation, copy the included plugins/RustyHeathensQoL folder into BepInEx/plugins.
Using nearby materials
Open a crafting table and select a recipe. Material counts include carried items and nearby boxes allowed by the existing crafting range and access rules. Hover over a requirement to see the inventory/box breakdown.
Nearby-box ingredients must arrive in your inventory before crafting completes, so leave enough normal inventory room. Material counts are previews; another player can use the stock before your craft starts. If crafting is canceled after materials are delivered, those materials remain in your inventory.
Quick Stack excludes personal/private boxes, boxes inside active wards, occupied boxes, graves, backpacks and vehicle inventories. Crafting uses its own existing access and ward-permission checks.
Interrupted material delivery
If a withdrawal is pending, make room in your inventory and remain near the box. The existing delivery receipt retries without another withdrawal. Rejoining the same world near the chest can resume delivery. Do not delete pending character or chest data to clear a waiting message.
If waiting persists after reconnecting with matching mod versions and enough inventory room, report the client/server BepInEx/LogOutput.log files, including [RHQOL SharedCraft] lines. Delivery receipts do not protect against a world rollback combined with a separately restored character save.
Compatibility and validation
Based on the existing build compiled against Valheim 1.0.21. Version 1.0.10 changes only the crafting material display; the existing crafting protocol and all unrelated method bodies are preserved.
Offline formatting checks passed. The updated display and live multiplayer behavior have not been tested in-game for this release. Mods replacing the same inventory or crafting interface may need compatibility testing.
