Rusty Heathens QoL 1.0.7

Valheim quality-of-life features for Rusty Heathens.

Changes in 1.0.7

  • P Quick Stack: requests an approved handoff from a remote chest's current owner. It waits for matching saved chest data before using the existing checked transfer. Opening and closing each chest first is no longer required when all participants have this version.
  • Nearby crafting: includes accessible closed boxes in previews, requests ownership when crafting starts, and pauses the craft timer while connecting. Actual ingredients are secured and verified before Valheim creates the result.
  • Material display: each requirement shows its cost plus On you and Boxes counts. Hover for the required amount, available chest stock, and the shortage that would come from boxes.
  • Recipe availability: the static requirement-row hook is now included, nearby chest changes refresh the recipe list, and quality/world-level filters are respected. One-ingredient previews can use a cloned chest item as their quality exemplar.
  • Busy, inaccessible, grave, vehicle and Rusty Backpack containers remain excluded from P and nearby crafting. P stores eligible materials only into boxes already containing that material. Full boxes leave the remainder on the player.

Remote snapshots are previews, not reservations: another player may use a box before your action. The current owner checks identity, distance and access before granting it. Requests time out after six seconds; missing or stale replies do not authorize inventory writes. If this repeats, check that the server and every player have 1.0.7 and inspect [RHQOL ChestAccess] in the log.

For building, the first placement may connect to remote boxes and ask you to place again. It does not replay an old cursor position. Crafting waits automatically. Nearby crafting needs normal inventory room for withdrawn ingredients; equipment/food cells do not count. If the native game subsequently refuses the action, withdrawn ingredients remain visible in the player's inventory.

Install

Stop Valheim and the dedicated server, then replace RustyHeathensQoL with 1.0.7 on the server and every participating player profile. Keep one active QoL DLL per installation. The ZIP has the Thunderstore package layout; it has not been uploaded or approved by Thunderstore.

No config edits or new plugin GUID are required. Keep ServerQoL 1.0.1 and ServerSync 1.0.3 as separate existing plugins; ServerQoL belongs on the dedicated server. The supplied server log already showed both QoL and ServerQoL installed there.

Retained features

  • Six-row main inventory with dedicated gear, utility, trinket, ammo and food slots.
  • Rusty Backpack: 16 slots initially, 24 after Eikthyr, 32 after The Elder; maximum four rows thereafter with the existing 16/8 settings.
  • Oversized old backpacks retain their contents for withdrawal before shrinking. Recovery graves remain accessible.
  • Proximity auto repair, food tools, character preview, gear-grave markers, craft audit and server automation integration.
  • Modded achievement support: normal character, item and world eligibility checks still apply. No achievements are automatically awarded.
  • Existing inventory-slot guards and verified transaction rollback. Previously missing items are not recreated.

Validation and limits

Built without compiler warnings against the supplied Valheim 1.0.20 and BepInEx assemblies. Passed 16 Quick Stack scenarios, 17 withdrawal/inventory-guard scenarios, 14 simulated owner-handoff scenarios, and 33 metadata assertions. The original checked Quick Stack transaction, material withdrawal engine and slot guards retain their compiled method bodies.

These checks use test doubles and supplied assembly metadata. Live Unity/Harmony loading, multiplayer persistence and visual layout have not been tested here. Test with known item counts, reopen boxes and reconnect before wider rollout. Local saved-ZDO verification is not confirmation of a server disk save; it does not make transfers crash-atomic or protect against unrelated mods forcibly changing ownership.

Complete source and reproducible offline scenarios are in RustyHeathensQoL_1.0.7_SOURCE.zip.
