AllfathersChest
One chest you throw everything into. A few seconds later it has put each thing into the chest around it that already keeps that thing. Works in multiplayer.Allfather's Chest
One chest you throw everything into. Press the button and each thing goes to the chest that already keeps that kind of thing.
English
Build the chest, put your ordinary chests around it, and drop one of a thing into each of them. That is their label — there is no other setup. From then on you empty your pockets into the one chest and walk away.
Several chests holding the same thing
The case this mod was built for. Three wood chests around the hub, and a stack of wood arriving: it must not go into the first one it finds, or you end up with five half stacks of wood in five chests — exactly the mess the chest is meant to clear up.
So, in this order:
- Open stacks are filled first. A chest holding 40 of 50 gets the next 10.
- Then a free slot, but only in a chest that already keeps that thing.
- Nearest wins when several qualify. Whoever wonders where their wood went looks beside the chest first.
A load that does not fit in one place is split across several.
What has no home stays put
If nothing around keeps that thing, it stays in the chest, in plain sight. That is not a failure — it is the answer to the question of what still needs a chest of its own. Put a chest up, drop one in, done.
The chest tells you what it has been doing. Look at it:
Allfather's Chest
14 sorted, 3 homeless
[E] Open
The button
Open the chest and there is a Sort button under the window. Press it and the contents go where they belong.
The button is there for when you want it now, and for when you would rather the
chest did nothing at all without being asked — AutoSort off makes it the only
way anything moves. A container may only be written by the machine that owns it,
and in Valheim having a chest open is owning it — so the person pressing the
button is already the one machine allowed to write. Nothing has to be taken from
anybody, and nothing moves that nobody asked for.
An automatic version existed and was removed. It could only ever run on the host, so the chest did nothing while he was away; and to write into a chest it had to take ownership of it, which shuts the window of anyone looking inside. Every fault this mod has had came out of that.
Multiplayer
It works for whoever presses the button — host or guest, and wherever the others happen to be.
While somebody has a chest open, the mod leaves that chest alone. It can tell in two ways: the other machine says so, and failing that it works the answer out from who owns the chest and how close they are standing. The second way needs nothing of them, which matters when somebody is a version behind.
Everyone playing needs the mod — without it the chest is not a piece they can see or build.
Things on the ground
Switch on PickUpFromGround and the chest gathers up what is lying within
reach by itself, every few seconds, whoever dropped it. It then waits in the
chest until somebody presses the button.
It then hands those on to the proper chests in the same pass, so nothing piles
up in the hub. Turn AutoSort off and it waits for the button instead.
This one runs unattended, and it is built to a stricter rule than the sorting was: it writes to the chest and to nothing else, and it only runs on the machine that already owns the chest — never by taking it from anybody. Valheim passes ownership to whoever is standing nearby of its own accord, so the sweeping happens wherever somebody is at home. Host or guest makes no difference.
Off by default, because a chest that quietly empties the floor is a surprise the first time it happens. Things that have only just been dropped are left alone for a few seconds — somebody putting something down for somebody else should have a moment to do it — and a thing standing as decoration is furniture, not litter, so it stays.
A dropped thing belongs to whoever dropped it. The chest asks them for it, over the wire, the way the game does; it never takes it. If the answer does not come, the thing simply stays on the ground.
What it does not do
- It does not touch private chests or carts.
- No rules, no lists, no YAML file.
Settings
All under F1: range, size, price, how often the ground is checked, and
whether the chest shows its counter. ShowRange draws the reach as a wireframe sphere while you stand near
it — three circles, because the reach is a sphere and a cellar below counts.
Deutsch
Was keine Kiste hat, bleibt liegen

- Keine Regeln, keine Listen, keine YAML-Datei.
Einstellungen
