RtDMMO is a full overhaul of Valheim that leans into MMO-style systems while still keeping the core survival experience intact.
It adds structured progression, meaningful combat, and a ton of new content — without turning the game into something unrecognizable.
What This Modpack Does
- Adds MMO-style systems like Bind on Equip and a custom death system (by Smoothbrain)
- Introduces 10 classes with different playstyles
- Expands the game with custom dungeons, enemies, bosses, and raids
- Keeps Valheim’s progression, but makes it more guided and consistent
- Combat is more impactful — you’ll feel it if you’re not prepared
Core Changes
- Boss powers are now passive instead of activated
- Bosses can drop cut gems and quality of gem depends on difficulty of boss.
- Jewelcrafting replaces traditional loot systems
- Gem Boxes have a 12% drop rate
- Creatures drop biome-based uncut gems (40%)
- Socketing gear won’t fail, but it costs coins
- Progression works both solo and in groups (ZedDragons mods)
Quality of Life
- Press P for a home portal (with a timed return)
- Automatically equips your last shield when using 1H weapons (ZenCombat)
- Dedicated dodge button (ZenCombat)
- Magic is available early instead of being late-game only
- Farming and planting are much smoother
- Assets are optimized for better performance (100m render cap, stylized textures)

Magic System
- You can start using magic as early as Eikthyr’s Meadows
- Progression is tied to consuming Spirit Essence
- Food (especially farming) plays a big role in sustaining Eitr
- All magic weapons have an AOE secondary attack

Resources are spread out to match progression:
- Meadows → Flint
- BlackForest → Copper, Tin, Gold
- Swamp → Iron, Guck, MoonIron
- Mountains → Silver, Orichalcum
- Plains → Netherite, limited BlackMetal
- Mistlands → Felmetal
- AshLands → Flametal, Ancient Metal
- DeepNorth → Arcane Metal

- Demigods will be supported by RtDMMO for as long as the author maintains it.
- If Alpus eventually stops maintaining it we will try something else or go back to WackyMMO.

Boss Hunting
- All bosses have a chance to drop gems
- Early bosses drop Simple Gems (15–20%)
- Mid-game introduces Advanced Gems
- Later bosses start dropping Perfect Gems, starting at 10% and increasing over time
Raids, Difficulty & QOL
- New raids are tied directly to biome progression
- Difficulty can be adjusted using Demigod modifiers
- Farming and Foraging systems are already included (Smoothbrain)
- Azumatt mods handle most of the extra QOL

Installation
- Install R2Modman or Gale
- Create a new Valheim profile
- Search for RtDMMO and install it
- Launch modded (first load will take longer than vanilla)
Important:
- You need a new world and character
- Do NOT update from older RtD versions with extra biomes
Dedicated Servers
- Configs need to be uploaded manually
- Server owners are responsible for setup
- Support is limited due to how many variables there are
