Animal Feeding Trough

Give tamed animals and animals being tamed a dedicated place to eat. Build a long wooden trough, fill it with suitable food, and let hungry animals approach it through their normal AI.

Installation

Mod manager

Install the package with a Thunderstore-compatible mod manager. Its declared dependencies will be installed automatically.

Manual installation

1. Install BepInExPack Valheim and Jotunn.
2. Copy AnimalFeedingTrough.dll into Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/AnimalFeedingTrough/.
3. Remove older copies of this mod from other plugin folders.
4. Install the same version on the server and every client.

Building and use

The Feeding Trough is available in the hammer's Furniture category. It requires a nearby workbench and costs 20 Wood and 4 Bronze Nails.

Open the trough like a chest and add suitable animal food. Keep both long sides accessible so animals can reach a feeding position. The visible feed mound indicates that suitable food is stored; it does not display the exact food type or quantity.

Animal movement still depends on Valheim's normal AI and pathfinding. Blocked paths, frightened animals, unloaded areas, or other mods that change animal AI may affect feeding behavior.

Uninstallation

Back up the world first. Empty and dismantle every placed trough while the mod is installed, save the world, exit the game, and then remove the DLL from the server and every client.
