Valheim Coffee

I bet a lot of you enjoy a good cup of coffee. Sadly, Vikings don't know the taste of it. But NO MORE!

Grow your own coffee and drink away in the Tenth World. Enjoy a freshly filtered cup, brew it in a French Press, or put the squeeze on your beans with the Espresso Press!

From your first seed to a steaming cup, build a complete coffee-making setup using materials that belong in Valheim. And when you fancy something different, ferment your own Coffee Stout and raise a wooden tankard!

Coffee and bonuses

Drink Ingredients / preparation Bonuses Duration
Filtered Coffee — Tier 1 Coffee Filter: 1 Ground Coffee + 1 Filter Paper + 1 Cup +25% stamina regeneration 30 minutes
French Press Coffee — Tier 2 French Press: 1 Ground Coffee + 1 Cup +50% stamina regeneration, plus protection against nighttime cold Regeneration: 30 minutes; warmth: 10 minutes
Espresso — Tier 3 Espresso Press: 1 Ground Coffee + 1 Cup +75% stamina regeneration, plus protection against nighttime cold Regeneration: 30 minutes; warmth: 10 minutes
Coffee Stout Ferment Coffee Stout Base; drink with the vanilla wooden Tankard equipped +10 maximum health, +20 maximum stamina, +30% stamina regeneration 30 minutes
  • No food slot required: coffees and stout are drinks, so you can keep all three food slots.
  • Only one coffee tier is active at a time. A higher tier replaces a lower one; drinking the same tier refreshes it. A lower tier is blocked without consuming the drink.
  • Coffee Stout has its own effect and can coexist with coffee. Repeated stouts refresh the effect instead of stacking maximum stats.
  • Stamina regeneration bonuses add to the base regeneration bonus. The stout's health bonus increases your maximum; it is not an instant heal.
  • Warm coffee protects against nighttime cold only. It does not protect against snow, Mountain cold, or freezing, and does not grant frost damage resistance.

Your coffee workshop

Build these stations with the hammer near a workbench.

Station Materials Purpose
Grain Dryer 8 Wood + 2 Bronze Dries coffee and makes Filter Paper over a lit fire
Coffee Grinder 10 Wood + 10 Stone + 2 Bronze Grinds dried beans; no fire required
Coffee Filter 10 Wood + 4 Leather Scraps + 2 Iron Brews Tier 1 coffee; requires nearby fire
French Press 10 Fine Wood + 4 Iron + 2 Bronze Brews Tier 2 coffee; requires nearby fire
Espresso Press 15 Fine Wood + 10 Iron + 6 Bronze Brews Tier 3 coffee with a manual lever press; requires nearby fire

The Espresso Press uses wood, iron and bronze for a manual brewing machine that fits the setting—no electricity required.

Coffee Stout uses the vanilla cauldron and fermenter, including the fermenter's normal cover requirements and fermentation time. Equip the wooden Tankard to drink it. The tankard's normal drinking action chooses an available compatible drink; keep only stout among your compatible drinks when testing it specifically.

Growing and finding coffee

Coffee grows in the Meadows and Black Forest. Cultivated plants take 60–80 minutes to mature and yield 3 Coffee per harvest. Harvested plants must be replanted.

Wild plants are uncommon, use the same barley-based plant model with added brown coffee beans, and yield the same crop. Wild coffee is generated in newly generated areas; already explored areas are not automatically repopulated.

Languages

English and Brazilian Portuguese are included in the same mod. Names, descriptions, station prompts and effect text follow your Valheim language setting automatically. Other languages fall back to English. No separate language download is required.

Installation

Install with a Thunderstore-compatible mod manager, or place ValheimCoffee.dll in BepInEx/plugins/ValheimCoffee/ manually.

Requires BepInExPack Valheim and Jötunn. Install the same version of Valheim Coffee on every client and the server. When upgrading, replace the old DLL and remove duplicate copies.

Version 0.4.0

Adds automatic English / Brazilian Portuguese localization and the Thunderstore presentation package. Existing item IDs, recipes, visuals and drink bonuses are preserved from 0.3.2.

Compiled against the supplied Valheim libraries and Jötunn 2.30.0. Language switching still needs an in-game check. If you encounter a problem, include your mod version, game language, steps to reproduce it, and BepInEx/LogOutput.log when reporting it.
