PlayAsMob
Spawn and control Valheim creatures with their native stats and attacks. Choose their level, leave your Viking behind, and return on death or by command. I tested multiplayer successfully.Changelog
1.0.3 - 21 September 2026
- I rewrote the mod descriptions and documentation in the first person.
- Gameplay is unchanged from 1.0.2.
1.0.2 - 21 September 2026
- Keep a possessing player's public multiplayer map marker at their stationary body.
- Requires PlayAsMob 1.0.2 on the controlling client and the host/dedicated server. Other players see the corrected marker without installing the mod.
- Keep network streaming centered on the creature; preserve the player's show/hide position setting and vanilla handling for players who are not possessing.
- Use the existing server-synced player data to signal possession; clear that state on exit, death, disable and shutdown.
- Retain the Valheim 1.0.15 input compatibility fix from 1.0.1.
- Release build: 0 errors, 0 warnings; 92 checks passed (66 parser, 12 input API, 14 map-position checks using game boundary doubles). No new in-game or multiplayer test was performed.
1.0.1 - 20 September 2026
- Fix immediate loss of creature control on Valheim 1.0.15 caused by
MissingMethodException: ZInput.GetJoyRightStickX(bool). - Bind all four gamepad stick axes to the API present in the running game, supporting parameterless methods and the earlier optional-boolean signatures.
- Preserve the earlier methods' individual default arguments. Axis delegates are cached, with no per-frame reflection.
- Add 12 regression checks for both input API variants and unsupported signatures. All 66 existing parser checks also pass.
- Built against the installed Valheim 1.0.15 libraries; in-game and multiplayer retesting of this hotfix is pending.
1.0.0
My initial release.
- Spawn and possess standard creatures with
playasmob <prefab> [level]. - Use the creature's own health, damage, movement and attacks, with native level scaling.
- Keep your original character in place while the camera and controls follow the creature.
- Return automatically when the creature dies, or release it to normal AI with
playasmob exit. - Map creature attacks to primary attack, secondary attack and block.
- Support ground movement, swimming and flying for compatible creatures.
- Include a creature HUD, prefab autocomplete and the
playasmob attackscommand. - Verified in Valheim 1.0.12. I manually tested multiplayer successfully on 20 September 2026.
Version 1.0.0 has English documentation and Polish in-game messages/HUD labels.
