Item Upgrader

Turn spare items into a chance to obtain something better. Choose a stake, choose a reward and its quantity, then spin the upgrade wheel.

Version: 0.3.0. Compiled against Valheim 1.0.16. Version 0.2.0 was tested in-game; this update needs an in-game compatibility and balance check. The custom interface is Russian; item names use the game's localization.

Installation

Mod manager

If you installed the previous package, remove it from the profile before installing this renamed package. Keep your BepInEx/config/ItemUpgrader files.

Install this package using Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman and launch the modded game. The BepInEx dependency is declared in the manifest.

Manual

1. Install BepInExPack for Valheim.
2. Copy the archive's BepInEx/plugins/ItemUpgrader folder into your game's BepInEx/plugins folder.
3. Launch the game and enter a world.

When updating, fully close the game and remove the old ItemUpgrader.dll before installing this version. Keep only one copy of the plugin DLL. Preserve your price files. The plugin ID is now valheim.itemupgrader; the previous configuration and pending reward are imported automatically when one legacy record is found.

On the first 0.3.0 run, legacy automatic prices are recognized and recalculated; changed prices and explicit zero exclusions are kept. The original file is backed up as ItemValues.before-0.3.0.json. Values that differ from the old automatic model are treated as custom. If a particular old value is retained unexpectedly, remove that entry from ItemValues.json and reload prices to regenerate it.

How to play

1. Press F8 to open the menu, or Esc to close it.
2. Select an unequipped inventory item as the stake and choose how many units to spend.
3. Select the desired item from the catalog and set its quantity.
4. Check the total reward value and displayed chance, then press УЛУЧШИТЬ.
5. On success, claim the reward. On failure, the selected stake is consumed.

Rewards are created at quality 1. Increasing the reward quantity increases its total value and reduces the chance of success.

Default formula:

chance = min(95%, stake value / total reward value * 90%)

The selected stake is consumed for every attempt, including successful attempts. Inventory and pending rewards are persisted through normal character saving and logout. A forced shutdown before saving can lose recent changes.

Configuration

Created after starting the game and entering a world:

• BepInEx/config/valheim.itemupgrader.cfg: hotkey, odds, reward limit, crafting markup and spin duration.
• BepInEx/config/ItemUpgrader/ItemValues.json: editable values per item prefab ID.
• BepInEx/config/ItemUpgrader/Catalog.csv: exported item catalog with the value and calculation basis.
• BepInEx/config/ItemUpgrader/AutomaticValues.json: generated baseline used to distinguish automatic prices from edits. Keep this file when updating.

Edit ItemValues.json and click ОБНОВИТЬ ЦЕНЫ to reload values. A value of zero disables the item. Explicit edits override automatic calculations. Untouched automatic values are recalculated, including descendants of changed ingredient prices. To reset one item, remove its entry from ItemValues.json and reload. Values are balance estimates and can be adjusted to suit your world.

Prefab IDs and recipe names were cross-checked with JotunnDoc item data and recipe data, generated from Valheim 1.0.7. Runtime recipes and conversions come from the installed game; all prices are author-assigned balance values, not official game prices.
