Pick a colour for your Lox Cape before you craft it.
Select the recipe at a workbench and the style button appears next to it — the game's own picker, exactly as it works for a Wood Shield. Seven choices: the original plus White, Black, Blue, Red, Green and Yellow.
The colour is stored on the cape itself, so it survives relogging, dropping it, putting it on an armour stand and giving it to someone else.
The colours are deliberately muted
The tint multiplies the cape's own fur texture rather than painting over it, so the shading, the fur detail and the wear all survive. The result reads as dyed hide rather than flat colour, which is the look that sits properly in Valheim.
Changing them
Every colour is editable, and Configuration Manager draws a proper colour picker for each — swatch, hex field and RGB sliders, under More Item Styles - Lox Cape. Drag a slider and the cape you are wearing changes as you drag, along with its inventory icon.
One thing to know before you start: the value you set is the cape's colour before the game lights it. In daylight the cape renders much brighter than the swatch suggests, so the shipped values look nearly black in the config and are correct. Pick darker than the result you want — or ignore the numbers entirely and just drag until it looks right.
Each player's colours are their own. Only the choice of style travels over the network, so if you retune your blue, nobody else's cape changes.
Requires More Item Styles
The engine lives in the More Item Styles package, which this depends on and your mod manager will install for you. Splitting them keeps each item a small, separate download rather than a growing bundle you cannot opt out of.
Notes
- Client-side. No server support needed, and it will not desync you.
- Style 0 is the untouched vanilla cape, so turning the mod off leaves a working item.
- No new art. The tinted inventory icons are generated from the vanilla icon at startup.
Compatibility
Other players do not need the mod. They will see your cape in its normal colour, because the tint is applied locally.
One caveat worth knowing: if you give or drop a styled cape to a player who does not have the mod, the game may error when it tries to draw an icon for a style it does not know about. Keep styled capes to yourself, or make sure everyone who might end up holding one has the mod. This applies to any mod that adds styles to an existing item.
