What it does

Valheim's shields ship with multiple style variations baked into the game — but the vanilla UI gives you no way to choose between them after you craft one.

Shield Restyler fixes that.

Open your inventory (Tab), hover over any shield in the grid, and press ` (backtick) to cycle through its visual styles one at a time. Your choice is saved per character and restored every time you log in.

Configuration (BepInEx/config/YouDied.ShieldRestyler.cfg)

Key	Default	Description
OpenStylerKey	` (Backtick)	Key to press while hovering a shield in the inventory to cycle its style

You can change OpenStylerKey to any Unity KeyCode or controller button.
Edit the file manually or use a config manager mod (e.g. BepInEx ConfigurationManager).

Installation

Thunderstore / r2modman (recommended)

Install via Thunderstore Mod Manager. Done.

Manual

1. Install BepInEx 5.x for Valheim.
2. Drop ShieldRestyler.dll into BepInEx/plugins/.
3. Launch Valheim.

Building from source

# Requires .NET SDK 6+ and a Valheim installation
set VALHEIM_GAME_PATH=C:\...\steamapps\common\Valheim
dotnet build -c Release

The output DLL will be at bin\Release\net462\ShieldRestyler.dll.
