FeedingTroughs
Feeding stations for every tame animal: three sizes each for hens, boars, wolves and Wolfborn, bears, asksvin, lox, moose and dragons. Fill them, and hungry animals walk to their own station and eat it empty.Feeding Troughs – a feeding station for every herd
Stop throwing food on the ground. Every tame animal gets its own feeding stations in three sizes: a bowl or tub, a large bowl or trough, and a trough, silo or manger. Build them with the hammer and fill them. Hungry animals then walk to a station of their own herd and eat. A bear walks past the boar bowl even when it is full of blueberries, and a lox ignores the hens' grain silo full of barley.
| Herd | Small | Medium | Large |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hens | Hen Bowl | Large Hen Bowl | Grain Silo |
| Boars | Boar Bowl | Large Boar Bowl | Boar Feed Silo |
| Wolves & Wolfborn | Wolf Bowl | Large Wolf Bowl | Wolf Trough |
| Bears | Bear Bowl | Large Bear Bowl | Bear Trough |
| Asksvin | Asksvin Bowl | Large Asksvin Bowl | Asksvin Trough |
| Lox | Lox Tub | Lox Trough | Lox Manger |
| Moose | Moose Tub | Moose Trough | Moose Manger |
| Dragons | Dragon Tub | Dragon Trough | Great Dragon Trough |
Each station is built to the size of its animals: a hen bowl is small, a dragon tub is big. The mangers carry a hay rack, and the great dragon trough is bound with iron.

Feeding
- Build a station of the herd near your animals.
- Fill it (see below).
- Hungry tame animals within reach walk to a free place at its rim, stop and eat a meal.
- Only their own herd. A station serves one herd. Animals walk past other herds' stations, even when the food there is food they like.
- They eat what they eat. A station only takes food its herd likes. The lists come from the game itself (and from other mods), so a wolf eats meat, a boar carrots and mushrooms, a hen seeds and barley, a dragon serpent and lox meat. They take the oldest food first.
- It is the game's own hunger. A fed animal heals and breeds, as in vanilla. The mod does not change how long an animal stays fed.
- Food on the ground still works. Tame animals eat what you throw to them, as in vanilla, and also go to a filled station of their herd. If you want stations to be the only way at home, set
TameAnimalsEatFromGroundtoWhenFollowingorNever. - Taming wild animals works as before, with food on the ground. Stations are for your herd.
Not too easy:
- Stations hold a limited amount, and every meal takes food out.
- Big animals eat more per meal.
- Animals only come from within reach, and they need a path to the station. If one station cannot be reached or all its places are taken, they try the next one.
- Every herd needs its own stations.
Filling
- E: put in raw fodder from your bag (meat, carrots, berries, barley, seeds…).
- Shift + E: also put in cooked or prepared food, such as cooked lox meat for the dragons. The plain fill leaves your own meals alone.
- Use an item on it (hotbar key while looking at it) to put in that stack only. Weapons, tools and your own meals are equipped or eaten as usual.
Look at a station to see what is in it, how full it is and which tame animals are nearby:
Nearby: Wolf ×2 (1 hungry) · Lox (eats at lox stations)
The food lies in the station on a bed of straw, and the hay in a manger's rack rises and falls with it. If you tear a station down, its food drops out.
The numbers
| Size | Holds | Animals come from |
|---|---|---|
| Small | 20 | 12 m |
| Medium | 40 | 16 m |
| Large | 80 | 22 m |
| Herd | Food per meal |
|---|---|
| Hens, boars | 1 |
| Wolves, bears, asksvin | 2 |
| Lox, moose, dragons | 3 |

Client:
ShowFoodInStation(on): show the stored food lying in the station. Off: only the straw bed rises and falls.
Animals from other mods that no herd lists eat at any station that holds food they like. Add them to a herd with its Animals setting.
Multiplayer and compatibility
- The food is stored with the piece, so all players see the same contents. Only the player who currently holds the station takes food out; another player's animal asks for it first, so no meal is eaten twice.
- Animals eat where the game runs their AI, as in vanilla.
- Every player and the server need the mod. Requires Jötunn.
- The dragon stations are for the Elemental Dragons mod and the Wolfborn in the wolf herd come from the Wolfborn mod. Without those mods the dragon stations take no food.
- Better Riding keeps every tame animal fed for 30 minutes after a meal (vanilla: 10). That is its own setting; this mod leaves it alone.
- Everything is built at runtime. There are no asset bundles.
Deutsch
- Drachen (Mod Elemental Dragons, jede Stufe): Drachenzuber, Drachentrog, Großer Drachentrog
Jede Mahlzeit nimmt Futter heraus.
Bodenfutter: Was du hinwirfst, fressen zahme Tiere weiterhin wie gewohnt.
Mehrspieler: Alle sehen denselben Inhalt.
