Taming extends LetMeTameYou and MountUpRestored with custom Bjorn and Lox saddles, independent rider adjustments, companion tracking and persistent bear genetics.

🐻 Your companions, at a glance

Give your animals a name, identify their sex and follow their pregnancy or growth. Keep your tamed companions nearby with Follow / Stay orders and locate adult Bjorn and Lox on the map.

Greylings and Greydwarfs eat ancient seeds, dandelions and resin for feeding and taming. They do not breed.

Bjorn and hare growth and pregnancy advance while the world is running. Time spent with the server stopped is excluded.

Mounted movement uses your configured Valheim actions. Bjorn and Lox retain their native attacks, with a forward rush available through a double press of Jump.

🛠️ Saddles and rider settings

• 19 Bjorn styles, including Classic, Bastion, Épure, Tressée, Nacelle, Ossature, Nomade and Caravane.
• 19 Lox styles, matching the Bjorn collection with skirts and harnesses adapted to the Lox.
• Adjust saddle position, rotation and scale independently from the rider.
• Save personal presets, select favourites and import or export presets.
• Server presets provide shared defaults, with editing reserved for administrators.

At the workbench, select the Bjorn or Lox saddle recipe and open the native Style submenu to choose a model.

Press F9 and open the Saddle submenu to choose a model. The Saddle / Rider tabs contain the placement controls.

Panniers and travel equipment are decorative; they do not add inventory space.

A bear's coat and eyes are assigned from birth and retained through adulthood.

Bjorn inheritance uses three generations of ancestors: parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The default contributions are 50% / 30% / 20%. View the connected family tree in F9, inspect known ancestors and preview the chances of a future offspring with a selected partner.

Other species show unknown ancestry rather than an invented family tree.

⚖️ Male and female traits

Adult males are 30% larger for Bjorn, hares, Lox, wolves and boars with a recorded sex. The extra size develops progressively during growth.

For Bjorn and Lox only:

• Males receive 10% extra maximum health.
• Females receive 10% extra mount stamina.

These traits remain separate from the size difference.

Use, Jump and combat actions follow your Valheim bindings. F9 and the saddle-removal modifier can be configured.

🔧 Administrator pregnancy commands

Use the in-game F5 console on a client connected to the world. Launch Valheim with -console if the console is disabled. The server must recognize your account as an administrator through its admin list (adminlist.txt). Install the same version of Taming on the server and all clients.

zf_breeding	Read-only reports for loaded breeding animals within 50 m, including their ZDO IDs and remaining pregnancy time.
zf_pregnancy_advance target 1h	Advance the existing pregnancy of the animal under your crosshair by one hour.
zf_pregnancy_advance 1:12345 11h21m	Advance one exact ZDO ID. Replace 1:12345 with the animal's current ID from zf_breeding.
zf_pregnancy_advance target 168h	Advance by up to seven days, clamped at the pregnancy's due time. This reaches the end of the default pregnancies.

The command supports any species using Valheim's Procreation component, including Bjorn, hares, Lox, wolves, boars and hens. It requires a pregnancy that has already started and a loaded network owner. Bjorn and hares retain their server-running real-time timers; other species retain their native world-time timers.

Enter a positive integer duration with ordered h, m, s units: for example 1h, 30m, 11h21m or 1m30s. Minutes and seconds must each be 0–59; the maximum per request is 168h. Remaining time before and after the change is reported. The server checks admin rights, and the owner rechecks the exact animal and pregnancy. Replaying the same request does not apply it twice.

When the pregnancy reaches its due time, the next native breeding update performs the birth. For hens this produces the native offspring, which may be an egg; egg hatching remains separate. The command does not start a pregnancy, spawn an extra offspring, accelerate growth or change the world's time. After a timeout, check zf_breeding before retrying because the previous result may be unknown.

These commands run from a connected administrator's game console. The hosting provider's server console cannot run them.

📦 Installation

Install Taming by Zephyrfit through Gale or another compatible Thunderstore mod manager. Install the same version of Taming and its dependencies on the server and every client.

The mod manager installs the versions declared in the package manifest.

For manual installation, extract the package into your BepInEx-equipped game or server directory. The plugin belongs at:

Keep one copy of the plugin and preserve your existing configuration and presets when updating. Dedicated-server and DatHost instructions are included in SERVER_INSTALL.md.
