BoneSpire
Experimental single-player test build. Bone-storing monuments with inventory-driven growth and expandable hostile-spawn protection.Bone Spire
Build bone-covered monuments that store Bone Fragments and change appearance as their inventories fill.
Experimental single-player test release. Compilation and offline checks have passed; in-game validation is pending. Use a disposable test world for this first release. Multiplayer is not yet validated.
The spires
| Greater Bone Spire | Lesser Bone Spire | |
|---|---|---|
| Build cost | 100 Bone Fragments + 10 Core Wood | 20 Bone Fragments + 1 Core Wood |
| Bone storage | 6,000 | 1,200 |
| Appearance | Fixed-height monument with increasing bone coverage | Straight bone-clad post that grows from about 1m to 8m |
| Protection | 50m base radius, expanded by qualifying Lesser Spires | Adds 5m to a qualifying Greater Spire; no independent protection |
Stored bones can be withdrawn, reversing the visual progression. Construction materials do not count toward inventory fill. Only Bone Fragments are accepted; trophies are not supported in this release.
Protection rules
Each Lesser Spire inside a Greater Spire's original 50m horizontal radius adds 5m to that Greater Spire's protection. Expanded protection cannot recruit more distant Lesser Spires. The bonus does not depend on the Lesser Spire's inventory. Removing a qualifying Lesser Spire reduces the radius.
Protection is implemented for natural hostile spawns and raid spawns at their spawn locations. Ordinary neutral wildlife and Dvergr are excluded from the filter. Animals spawned as raid attackers are included.
Existing enemies can still enter the area. This does not stop raids from starting or prevent spawns outside the boundary. Boss summoning, physical nest/spawner objects, console commands, and other mods' custom spawn paths are not intercepted.
Installation
Use Install with Mod Manager on the Thunderstore package page. The manifest declares BepInExPack Valheim and Jotunn so a supported manager can install the dependencies. Launch Valheim through your mod manager.
Find Greater Bone Spire and Lesser Bone Spire in the Hammer's Misc category / Storage tags. Discover Bone Fragments and Core Wood first and have a workbench nearby.
The package includes the compiled DLL and all required model files. No compiler, external asset download, or manual folder copying is required when installing through the mod manager.
Quick first test
- Place both spires and inspect their appearance, placement previews, and collision.
- Deposit 300 Bone Fragments in Greater and 120 in Lesser to reach their first growth steps. Withdraw them to check that growth reverses. Try depositing wood; it should remain in the source inventory.
- Save, quit, and reload with bones stored. Confirm the contents and appearance return. Check that the Greater inventory's bottom rows are accessible.
- Greater alone should display 50m protection. Add one Lesser clearly within 50m and expect 55m. Remove the empty Lesser and expect 50m again.
Console-spawned creatures bypass the protection filter and cannot be used to validate spawn suppression.
Compatibility and test status
Built using Valheim 1.0.20 and Unity 6000.0.75 reference assemblies, BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351, and Jotunn 2.30.2. Compatibility with other game versions has not been established.
Offline verification covers compilation, game API references, bone-capacity and radius rules, all twelve model files, and growth stages. Actual game startup, materials, collision, inventory transfers, saving, destruction drops, spawn suppression, and performance still require in-game testing.
The models use procedural geometry with materials sourced from Valheim at runtime. Large inventories and settlements with many spires require testing. There are no user configuration options in this prototype.
For troubleshooting, retain the complete BepInEx/LogOutput.log, the game version, and a screenshot or description of the issue.
Removing the mod
Empty and dismantle placed spires before uninstalling the mod from a world you intend to keep.
