Frelsi Hammer

Build freely, retain progression.

Frelsi (Old Norse for "Freedom") Hammer is a balanced Valheim QoL mod that frees you from the annoying "Workbench required" restriction when building, but without ruining the vanilla game progression. It achieves this by remembering which crafting stations your character has already built! Uses the vanilla hammer, but it went Frelsi!

Features

1. Smart Station-less Building

No more carrying 10 extra wood and placing random Workbenches everywhere just to build a simple chest, ladder or portal, thanks to the freedom of Frelsi Hammer! Once you have built a crafting station (e.g., a Workbench) at least once with your character, you are free to build and repair any pieces usually requiring that station, anywhere in the world.

• Vanilla Friendly: It does not unlock anything beyond what the base game allows. You still need to gather the materials and build the station once! This goes for every station separately (workbench, forge, stonecutter, black forge, galdr table, artisan table).
• Character Bound: The progression is saved per character. If you start a new character, you will need to build the stations again.
• Configurable: You can toggle this feature individually for every station in the game.

2. Durability Multiplier

Constantly repairing your hammer during large building projects is tedious.

• Multiply the maximum durability of your hammer by up to 3x (configurable via slider, vanilla default: 1, mod default: 2).

3. The Unbreakable Upgrade

Give your Hammer an endgame purpose!

• Upgrading your Hammer to Level 4 (Quality 4) makes it completely indestructible!
• To keep this balanced, the mod optionally requires a Level 5 Workbench to perform the final Level 4 upgrade.

Installation

Using a Mod Manager (Recommended)

Simply install the mod via Gale, r2modman or the Thunderstore Mod Manager. The manager will automatically download and install all required dependencies (like BepInEx) for you.

Manual Installation

1. Install BepInExPack Valheim.
2. Create a folder named FrelsiHammer inside your BepInEx/plugins folder, and extract the contents of the downloaded zip file into it.
3. Start the game. The config file will be generated automatically.

Configuration

All features can be enabled, disabled, or tweaked using the BepInEx ConfigurationManager in-game (press F1) or by editing the com.zeecamelsnake.frelsihammer.cfg file.

Compatibility

Works perfectly in multiplayer. This is a client-side mod.

Safe to Uninstall

Yes! This mod does not add any custom items, prefabs, or blocks to the game. It only adds a tiny text flag to your character save file. If you uninstall the mod, the game will simply ignore the flag, and your savegame will remain 100% intact and playable.
