Always Practice Makes Perfect

A BepInEx mod for Mycopunk that always enables the Practice Makes Perfect reload timing mini-game on all weapons.

Features

• Always Practice Makes Perfect — During reload, a timing window appears; press Fire inside it to speed up the reload animation
• QTE progress bar — Full-reload bar with a sweet-spot band and moving cursor (replaces the flash popup)
• All weapons — Not limited to Lead Flinger; every gun with a reload gets the mini-game
• Vanilla Lead Flinger path — Lead Flinger uses the game's own insta-reload fields when the upgrade is not equipped
• Config toggle — Enable or disable from the BepInEx config file
• Tunable window & speed — Adjust timing window width and success speed multiplier
• Hot-reload — Config changes apply while the game is running
• Local player only — Does not affect other players

Installing

Thunderstore (recommended)

1. Install via the Thunderstore Mod Manager (or r2modman)
2. The mod is placed in the correct directory automatically

Manual

1. Install BepInEx for Mycopunk
2. Copy AlwaysPracticeMakesPerfect.dll into <Mycopunk Directory>/BepInEx/plugins/

Settings live in:

Config changes are hot-reloaded while the game is running.

How it works

Vanilla Practice Makes Perfect (InstaReload) is a Lead Flinger upgrade: during reload a short window opens and pressing Fire multiplies reload animation speed.

This mod:

1. Injects the same stats onto Lead Flinger when the upgrade is not equipped
2. Recreates the same timing logic for every other gun
3. Shows a progress bar for the full reload with a highlighted sweet-spot band; press Fire when the cursor is inside the band

Troubleshooting

• Mod not loading? Confirm BepInEx is installed and check the BepInEx log.

• No timing bar? Ensure Enable Practice Makes Perfect is true. Some weapons without a normal reload animation will not show a bar.

• Window too hard/easy? Lower or raise Window Duration. Raise Reload Speed Multiplier for a stronger success reward.

• Old config file? If you previously used sparroh.practicemakesperfectalways.cfg, delete it — the GUID is now sparroh.alwayspracticemakesperfect.
