Radial Quickslots
(WIP) Radial menu for quickslots! Hold the hotkey (Q by default) to bring it up, drag outwards towards the option you want, release the hotkey. Way more convenient and fast IMO. Thank you for choosing PodCube™. The Future, is Yesterday™Radial Quickslots
A BepInEx mod for Outward that adds a radial (pie) menu for your quickslots. Hold a key (default Q), drag the mouse toward a slot, release to use it. Purely client-side, should work in multiplayer even if only you have it.
I was inspired by how much better the quickbar works on controller than on PC. Also radial menus are just great in general.
Very much still a work in progress, it's a little ugly, and there may be some edge-case issues I haven't found yet. Expect updates eventually.
Features
- Hold-to-open radial menu for quickslots
- Mouse-drag selection with adjustable deadzone, so releasing without moving does nothing
- Shows the hovered item's name in the center
- Camera look and attacks are frozen while the radial is open
- Your hotkey takes precedence over the game's own quickslot hotkeys while held
- Adjustable size, deadzone, etc of the menu.
Installation
Just use R2ModMan, and click "download with dependencies". Only dependency is BepInEx (and configuration manager if you want settings).
Or install manually:
- Install BepInEx into your Outward folder and run the game once.
- Take
RadialQuickslots.dll, and put it inBepInEx/plugins/. - Launch the game.
Usage
- Hold the hotkey (default
Q). - Move the mouse toward the slot you want.
- Release the key to use that slot.
To cancel, move back to the center (inside the deadzone) and release.
Configuration
Use the F5 ConfigurationManager in-game.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
Hotkey |
Q |
Hold to open the radial. Rebind with the "press a key" recorder in ConfigurationManager. Modifier combos like Shift+Q should work. |
Deadzone |
35 |
Drag distance needed before a slot is selected. Releasing inside it does nothing. |
DragRange |
140 |
Maximum drag distance. Smaller means less mouse travel to reach a slot. |
Sensitivity |
6 |
Mouse sensitivity while the radial is open. |
UIScale |
1.0 |
Overall size multiplier for the radial. |
RingRadius |
210 |
Distance of the slots from the center. |
SlotSize |
104 |
Size of each slot box. |
SlotOpacity |
0.55 |
Opacity of unselected slot backgrounds. |
Notes and known limitations
- While the radial is open, the game's quickslot hotkeys are disabled, so the key you pick always wins over the stock binding.
- Only quickslot handling is swallowed. If you bind the radial to a key the game uses for something else (dodge, sprint, etc.), that action may still fire.
- Only the first local player is supported (no split-screen).
