HazardControl

Control the rising hazards in PEAK, including Fog, Caldera Lava, Kiln Lava, Gloom, and Void Ghosts.

TFA and Multiplayer

True Final Ascent is optional. Version 0.2.0 supports the native hazards used by TFA 3.0.1, including reordered and repeated stages; it does not control TFA-specific hazards.

Controls remain host-authoritative and use the game's original RPCs. Clients do not need HazardControl or matching settings. Clients simulate their own movement between syncs, so stopped, reversed, or accelerated hazards can visibly correct position; installing HazardControl on clients does not synchronize the host's multiplier settings.

Kiln lava, Gloom, and Void Ghosts multipliers apply to the combined progress of each update, including TFA's extra acceleration and rest compensation. 1.0 preserves TFA's pace, 0.0 stops progress on the host, and negative Kiln values reverse it. TFA's rest pauses are preserved on the host. Hazard enablement, stage admission, and event triggers remain controlled by the game and TFA.

Config

Fog Control

  • Enable Fog Control - Enable Fog control features. Default is true. Disabling it at runtime restores the instance's original speed on its next update.
  • Fog speed multiplier - Multiplier for each Fog instance's original initialized speed. Default is 1.0. 0.0 stops the fog, and 10.0 multiplies its speed by ten. TFA's stage-specific Fog speed factor still applies.
  • Fog sync rate - Seconds between syncs to other clients. Default is 1.0, or 1 time per second. 5.0 is the vanilla rate. Lower values may cause more lag.

Fog Wait Times

  • Shore, Tropics, Alpine, Mesa, and Roots each have an independent wait-time setting. The default is -1, which preserves the original position and maximum-wait behavior for that biome.
  • A non-negative value starts the Fog after that many seconds of non-resting game time and prevents biome position thresholds from starting it early. The timer pauses while players are resting.
  • A non-negative Shore value enables timed Fog on Shore. With Shore = -1, Shore keeps its original position-only trigger.
  • The current game maxWaitTime is 1000 seconds. It is a fallback maximum for non-Shore biomes, so the original position thresholds can start the Fog earlier.
  • Other biome types keep the game's original Fog behavior.
  • Settings follow the current biome, including stage changes within the same map segment. They do not override TFA's rest or stage-specific holds on Fog movement and waiting.
  • Fog timing is host-authoritative; the host starts Fog through the game's normal synchronization RPC, so clients do not need matching timing settings.

Caldera Lava Control

  • Enable Caldera Lava Control - Enable Caldera lava control features. Default is true. Disabling it restores each controlled instance's original Animator speed and enabled state.
  • Lava cycle speed multiplier - Multiplier for each instance's original animation speed. Default is 1.0. 0.0 stops the animation, and 20.0 multiplies its speed by twenty.
  • Fixed lava (overrides speed mult) - Prevents the lava from moving. Like the name implies, ignores the speed multiplier. Control the lava animation with the Fixed lava position option below. Default is false.
  • Fixed lava position - The position of the lava when it's fixed. Only applies if the option above is True. 0.0 is the lowest position, while 1.0 is the highest.
  • Dynamic lava height - Enables the existing dynamic-height mode. Default is false.
  • Minimum lava height - The minimum height of the lava when dynamic lava height is enabled.
  • Maximum lava height - The maximum height of the lava when dynamic lava height is enabled.
  • Lava cycle time - The time for a full dynamic-height cycle. Default is 80 seconds.
  • Lava cycle pause time - The pause at each end of a dynamic-height cycle. Default is 10 seconds.
  • Lava sync rate - Seconds between syncs to other clients. Default is 1.0, or 1 time per second. 5.0 is the vanilla rate. Lower values may cause more lag.

Dynamic height remains limited to its original fixed world-height range and runs on the host without position synchronization. It is not suitable for relocated/scaled terrain or consistent multiplayer heights, including TFA layouts. Installing the mod on every client does not resolve this limitation. Keep it disabled for those cases; coordinate and networking changes are deferred.

Kiln Lava Control

  • Enable Kiln Lava Control - Enable Kiln lava control features. Default is true.
  • Lava wait time - Wait duration after the original readiness conditions are met, not time since entering the biome. Once started, vanilla Kiln waiting does not pause for campfire rest; TFA may apply its own rest hold. Default is -1, preserving the instance value (vanilla reference: 180 seconds).
  • Lava speed multiplier - Multiplier for the Kiln lava speed. Default is 1.0. 0.0 stops it, while negative values move it back toward its starting height.
  • Lava sync rate - Seconds between syncs to other clients. Default is 5.0, or 1 time per 5 seconds. 15.0 is the vanilla rate. Lower values may cause more lag.

Gloom Control

  • Enable Gloom control - Enable Gloom control features. Default is true.
  • Gloom wait time - Accumulated waiting time while the original readiness conditions are satisfied. Resting or having no conscious player above the scene's height threshold pauses accumulation. Default is -1, preserving the instance value (vanilla reference: 150 seconds).
  • Gloom speed multiplier - Multiplier for the Gloom's rising speed. Default is 1.0. Negative values are not supported.
  • Gloom sync rate - Seconds between state syncs to other clients. Default is 5.0, or 1 time per 5 seconds. 15.0 is the vanilla rate. Lower values may cause more lag.

Void Ghosts Control

  • Enable Void Ghosts control - Enable Void Ghosts control features. Default is true.
  • Void Ghosts wait time - Waiting time started by the triggering soul event and accumulated on the host in the required segment. Vanilla waiting does not pause for campfire rest; TFA may apply its own rest hold. Default is -1, preserving the instance value (vanilla reference: 0 seconds).
  • Void Ghosts speed multiplier - Multiplier for the Void Ghosts' rising speed. Default is 1.0. Negative values are not supported.
  • Void Ghosts sync rate - Seconds between state syncs to other clients. Default is 5.0, or 1 time per 5 seconds. 15.0 is the vanilla rate. Lower values may cause more lag.
