Caseboard Expanded
Unlimited open cases, and a case bar that scrolls instead of squeezing every name away. Pin cases, newest first, and finished or failed jobs move aside.Caseboard Expanded

A BepInEx (mod loader) plugin for Shadows of Doubt. Unlimited open cases, and a case bar that stays readable however many you take on.
If it helped you keep your investigations in order, please leave a like on its Thunderstore page. It keeps me motivated to make more mods. Donations are welcome too:
What it does
- Unlimited open cases: the game stops you at five. Take on as many side jobs and custom cases as you like. You can set your own limit in the config.
- A case bar that scrolls: the game squeezes every case into one row until the names disappear. Case buttons now keep a readable width, and once they no longer fit, the bar scrolls sideways with the mouse wheel or a trackpad. While everything fits, it looks exactly like the vanilla bar.
- The buttons stay put: "No case", the sticky note and "New case" stay in place while the cases scroll between them.
- Controller friendly: the shoulder buttons step through every case in order, and the bar follows so the open case is always in view.
- Pin your cases: press Alt + P on the case board to pin the open case. Pinned cases start with
*and stay at the front. You can also pin a case by renaming it with a*in front. - Newest first: cases are sorted with the newest at the front (or oldest first, or the game's own order).
- Done cases move aside: when a side job is finished or failed, its case is marked "(finished)" or "(failed)" and moves to the end of the bar. Most jobs share a few names like "Theft", so you can always tell which ones are still open.
- Job updates say which job: "Job information updated!" now names the case it is about.
Config
After one launch, edit BepInEx/config/sm3gm.sod.caseboardexpanded.cfg with the game closed.
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Cases / MaxOpenCases | 0 | How many cases you can have open at once. 0 means no limit (vanilla 5). |
| CaseBar / MinButtonWidth | 130 | Case buttons never get narrower than this, so their names stay readable. |
| CaseBar / SortOrder | Newest | Newest first, Oldest first, or Vanilla. Pinned cases always come first. |
| CaseBar / PinKey | P | Pins or unpins the open case while the case board is shown. |
| CaseBar / PinModifier | LeftAlt | Held with PinKey. None means PinKey alone. |
Good to know
Pins and the "(finished)" and "(failed)" marks are part of the case name, so they are kept in your save. Removing the mod leaves the names as they are; you can rename the cases if you like.
