RogueGolf
66 roguelike modifiers plus four optional custom items, host-controlled weights and voting. Custom Items default OFF. All players need the same version.RogueGolf
A roguelike mode for Super Battle Golf.
Hole 1 is normal. After that, the lobby votes on modifiers that change the rest of the course. Most effects stack for the run, so a reasonable game of golf can gradually turn into low gravity, giant balls, absurd knockback, random weapons, lightning storms, or something considerably worse.
Make bad decisions, together.
Features
- 66 modifiers affecting physics, combat, items, traffic, scoring, and the course itself.
- Vote on up to 5 modifier cards between holes.
- Most modifiers stack for the rest of the run.
- Boss modifiers are deliberately ridiculous, but last for one hole only.
- 2 shared skips by default. A skip normally adds no new modifier while leaving the existing stack active.
- Vote, Random, and Hybrid selection modes.
- Adjustable rarity progression, modifier density, Boss frequency, skips, weights, and individual effect values.
- Active-effect HUD, pause-menu details, combined values, timers, and an end-of-run summary.
- Optional Custom Items, currently in development and OFF by default.

Make the next hole interesting.
Vote together on modifier cards, including powerful one-hole Boss events.

Make bad decisions, together.
One increasingly unreasonable round of golf, based on your choices.

Set up your kind of chaos.
Tune the run, skips, Boss cadence, progression, and weights from Match Setup.

How it works
Hole 1 uses normal rules. Between holes, the lobby votes on modifier cards. The winning modifier is added to the run, and most remain active for the rest of the course.
Modifiers stack and interact. Low gravity, giant balls, absurd knockback, and even course-wide events can make your game heaven or hell.
You'll find out which.
You have a limited number of skips. By default, a skip adds no new modifier while keeping the current stack active. The host can instead configure skips to make the next hole completely vanilla.
Boss modifiers are intentionally extreme and always last for one hole.
Stronger cards become more common as the course progresses. Scaling adapts to the number of holes, and the host can tune the progression however they like.
Default setup
RogueGolf is meant to work out of the box without touching the settings.
- Selection: Vote
- Candidate cards: 4
- Persistence: Stack for Run
- Shared skips: 2
- Skip behavior: No New Modifier
- Boss selection: Every 4th inter-hole round
- Early rarity mix: 55 Common / 40 Rare / 5 Legendary
- Custom Items (in development): Off
Standard modifier density is tuned around a normal 9-hole game, targeting 11 modifier opportunities. The current defaults use 11 opportunities on 12 holes and 17 on 18 holes.
If you want something different, nearly all of it can be changed from the in-game setup menu. Make your own rules!
Installation
Install RogueGolf through a Thunderstore-compatible mod manager.
BepInExPack is required and should install automatically as a dependency.
Launch the game using Modded, then host a Steam lobby.
Every player must use the same RogueGolf version.
Close the game before updating the mod. To uninstall, disable or remove RogueGolf through your mod manager.
Configuration
From Match Setup, press F7 or open RogueGolf Settings.
The host can configure:
- selection mode
- modifier density
- persistence
- candidate count
- skips
- Boss frequency
- voting timers
- rarity progression
- individual modifier weights
- Custom Items
A modifier weight of 0 excludes it from selection.
Settings are captured when a course begins and normally apply to the next course. Disabling RogueGolf also ends the current RogueGolf run.
Reset to Defaults restores the shipped RogueGolf configuration without changing an already-running course.
For individual effect tuning and advanced options, edit:
BepInEx/config/technomancer.roguegolf.cfg
The file is created automatically after first launch.

A few notable modifiers
Law of Zeus
A one-hole Boss modifier that continuously spawns the game's actual vanilla Thunder Storm effect around the course.
Storms can target:
- greens
- players
- balls
- item points
- fairway routes
The default event is capped at seven active storms. Individual lightning behavior remains native to Super Battle Golf.
Dunk Golf
Turns the green into a giant basketball-style opening.
Expect:
- giant balls
- low gravity
- Rocket Drivers
- questionable shot selection
Pinball Hell
Exactly what it sounds like.
Testing tools
RogueGolf includes host-side tools for testing modifiers without waiting for them to appear naturally.
Enable the game's Console Commands rule in a private lobby, open the native console, then press F6 in the driving range or during a hole.
From there you can:
- apply individual modifiers
- apply compatible stacks
- clear active effects
- trigger timed cycles
- spawn a Training Golfer
- test native Thunder Storm effects
Testing effects in the driving range are cleared when a course starts.
The Training Golfer exists for local physics, hit-reaction, and knockout testing. It has no AI, no ball, cannot use carts, and disappears when another player joins.
These tools are mainly for development and troubleshooting; normal players do not need them.
Compatibility
Current release: 1.0.0
- Windows / Steam
- Tested against Super Battle Golf 1.2.2-657
- RogueGolf protocol 9
- Matching RogueGolf versions are required for multiplayer
Other gameplay mods may conflict.
Multiplayer and balance testing are ongoing, particularly across longer sessions and varied maps.
If something breaks, open an issue and include:
- RogueGolf version
- reproduction steps
- relevant player profiles
