Configuration
Encounter QoL includes its own in-game configuration manager. Features with meaningful settings expose those settings there; features intended to behave consistently are enabled directly without unnecessary configuration toggles.
Selected Controls (0.0.11)
- Cultivator (plant selected): Right Ctrl + C switches between rectangular and circular planting grids. In circle mode, Up / Right increases a layer and Down / Left decreases a layer (1–6 layers). Existing Right Ctrl + Arrow controls adjust the rectangular grid.
- Tamed creatures: Left Ctrl + Left Shift + Use (normally E) issues Follow All within 20m; Left Ctrl + Left Alt + Use issues Stay All. Left Ctrl + Use still commands one tame.
- Cartography Table: Shift + Use toggles automatic map synchronization per player. Both players must opt in to exchange map data.
- F8 keybinds: Press and release a modifier to bind it alone, or hold it while pressing another key for a combination. Esc cancels; F7 reflects changes live.
- Portal: Shift + Use opens the Better Portals destination list; regular Use retains portal naming.
- F8: Configure additional inventory rows, Quick/Food/Ammo/Misc slot counts, and the optional enemy hitbox outline. Reduced slot counts relocate affected items when safe, or refuse the change if inventory space is insufficient.

Multiplayer
Encounter QoL changes gameplay systems and inventory behavior and is configured as an everyone-must-have mod. For multiplayer, the server and all connecting players should have Encounter QoL installed.
Cartography Table Auto Map Sync is opt-in per character. Version 0.0.11 improves map delivery requests and diagnostics; results across multiplayer clients are still being verified.
Reviving Fallen Players
When at least one other player is connected, a player who dies can remain at their death location while waiting for help. The world remains visible, and the fallen player can click Respawn Now at any time to choose normal respawning.
A living teammate can approach the fallen player and hold Use (normally E) continuously for one second to request a revival. Releasing the key early cancels the attempt.
A successful revival returns the fallen player at the death location with 10 HP. Encounter QoL then attempts to recover their inventory from the original gravestone created by that death, using Valheim's normal inventory transfer process.
Inventory recovery is not guaranteed in every circumstance. If belongings are missing, check the original gravestone and nearby ground before assuming they were lost.
When playing alone, vanilla death and respawning remain unchanged. All multiplayer participants should use the same current Encounter QoL version.
