WorldForge
World editor with free-angle build pieces and matching-angle snapping, terrain sculpting, biome generation, authored rivers and lakes, blueprints, procedural generation and headless server runtime.World Forge
An in-game world editor for Valheim. Sculpt terrain, paint biomes, build without cost at any angle, author rivers and lakes, generate biomes or whole multi-biome regions, and save it all as an undoable project beside your world.
Back up your world first. Terrain, paint and biome edits live in a separate project and can be undone or removed. Placed objects, builds and biomes applied to visited zones change the world save when the game saves.
Getting started
- Load a world you host (single player, host or dedicated server).
- Press F9 and choose Open world editor.
- Pick a mode from the toolbar: Sculpt, Paint, Place, Build, Water, Procedural.
| Control | Action |
|---|---|
| Left mouse | Apply the tool |
| Right mouse + WASD / Q / E | Look and fly |
| Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y | Undo / redo |
| Ctrl+Space | Search every tool, object, preset and blueprint |
| Escape | Close the editor |
Edits save automatically. A short walkthrough runs the first time you open the editor.
Features
Sculpt
- Raise, lower, smooth, flatten, terrace, noise, ramps, stamps, image stamps and paths along curves.
- Precision tools: exact height steps, a two-point gradient brush, snapping, slope limits, edge blending and a world-wide height clamp.
- Masks, symmetry, macros, terrain copy and paste, and a measuring tool with an elevation profile.
- Hydraulic erosion carves channels and deposits sediment.
- Geological history simulates plates, rifts and river valleys over hundreds of ages, with rock layers you can see in tunnel walls.
- Carve tunnel / Add rock: volumetric rock you can dig through and flood.
Paint
- Any vanilla or custom biome, Ashlands lava and Deep North snow up to 2 m deep.
- Dirt and paved roads, grass density, surface looks and decals.
- Auto-paint snow by height and stone by slope.
Place
- Real objects or visual-only scenery, scatter brushes and weighted planting presets.
- Patterns, splines, surface snapping, physics drop-and-settle, find and replace, and batch transforms.
- Large forests stay visible at range as light billboards.
Build
- Every installed hammer piece, searchable, with no material cost.
- Free 3-axis rotation with typed angles and step presets. Pieces snap together when their angles match.
- Copy a piece's angle (V) or its type and angle (Alt-click).
- Select, move, nudge, rotate, duplicate and delete placed pieces in groups.
- Layers: group objects, then show, hide, lock, duplicate or move a whole layer at once.
- Blueprints: capture an area with its terrain and place it again with blending, arrays or scatter.
- Optional wear protection.
Water
- River and Lake tools with level, width, waterfalls and calm or rapid stretches.
- Currents flow around rocks. Water is swimmable, boatable and synced in multiplayer.
Terrain maps
- The editor minimap switches between the biome map and six analyses: elevation, sea level, slope, height change, seams and pits.
Biomes and generation
- Biome generator: draw a shape on the ground or the map and generate its terrain, vegetation, locations and spawns. Buildings are protected.
- Mega-biomes: fill one large selection with every land biome at once. A shared continent rises from the coast, a mountain spine runs through it, rivers follow the drainage and each biome settles where its height and climate fit.
- Procedural: mountains, layered noise, landmarks, coastlines and settlements with a preview before applying.
- Biome studio: create biomes or change vanilla ones, including weather, environment and spawns.
Gameplay authoring
- Regions with rules for building, digging, PvP, portals and spawning.
- Triggers, scripts, a progression graph, boss altars, modular dungeons, spawn painting, encounters, loot, signs and story notes.
Projects and history
- A timeline to undo to any point, saved revisions with compare overlays and per-player rollback.
- Export, import and merge projects. World templates and content packs.
- Native export bakes heights (within ±8 m) and roads into the world save, so they stay after the mod is removed.
- Safe mode shows edits without writing anything.
Multiplayer
The host or dedicated server is in charge. Players with World Forge see every edit, and authorized players can edit remotely, limited by roles and claimed areas. Dedicated servers run World Forge headless: they load the project, sync it to players and run scripts, spawners and water.
