MySix ProgressivePortals
Valheim's wooden portal won't take ore or metal. Five new portals, one per biome from the Black Forest to the Mistlands, each earned by its boss, let through their biome's ore, metal and scrap and those of every biome before.MySix Progressive Portals
Valheim's wooden portal won't take ore or metal, so until you can build the Ashlands' stone portal, every haul goes home by boat or cart. Progressive Portals adds a better portal for each biome you conquer, from the Black Forest to the Mistlands. Each is built with a material from its biome and earned by beating its boss. It lets through that biome's ore, metal and scrap - with the Mountains' dragon eggs, and the Mistlands' mechanical springs and dvergr extractors - and everything from every biome before it, so your portals grow with you.
- Elder Portal (Black Forest, earned by the Elder): 20 Core Wood, 2 Surtling Cores, 10 Ancient Seeds. Lets through copper, tin and bronze, and their ores and scrap. Greydwarf heads with purple eyes watch from the front, its ancient seeds glow as in the game, and it is wound with mossy vines; glows purple.
- Bone Portal (Swamp, Bonemass): 20 Ancient Bark, 2 Surtling Cores, 10 Withered Bone. Adds iron, its ore and scrap. Glows yellow-green.
- Frozen Portal (Mountains, Moder): 20 Fine Wood, 2 Surtling Cores, 10 Freeze Glands. Adds silver, silver ore and dragon eggs. Glows icy blue.
- Black Portal (Plains, Yagluth): 20 Core Wood, 2 Surtling Cores, 10 Tar. Adds black metal and its scrap. Glows ember red.
- World Tree Portal (Mistlands, the Queen): 20 Yggdrasil Wood, 2 Surtling Cores, 10 Eitr. Adds the dvergr's mechanical springs and extractors. Glows green drifting to light blue, and crackles with lightning.
- The Ashlands' stone portal still takes everything, as in the game, the last biomes' goods included: the Ashlands' Flametal, Flametal Ore and Charred Cogwheels, and the Deep North's Bloodgold, Petrified Tissue and Iron Pit, which no biome portal lets through. With SameTypeOnly on, it connects only to another stone portal.
- Earned by the boss: you learn a portal once you have taken part in defeating its biome's boss (anyone who hit it before it died). A recipe known without that is taken back; portals already built keep working. Setting
ProgressivePortals.UnlockBy(server):BossKill(default),BossHead(everyone learns it once the boss's head hangs on its sacrificial stone) orMaterials(learned from its materials, like the game's own pieces). - Same type only: a portal connects only to a portal of its own type with the same tag. This includes the game's own portals: a wooden portal no longer connects to the Ashlands' stone portal, and any pair already made across types is undone. Setting
ProgressivePortals.SameTypeOnly(server, on by default); off, any two portals with the same tag connect, as in the game. - Runes glow while you place any portal, the game's own included, so you can place it in the dark and see which way it faces.
- The teleport screen takes the colour of the biome portal you step into.
- Built with the Hammer, in the Misc tab next to the wooden portal, near a workbench (anywhere with setting
ProgressivePortals.NoWorkbench, server, off by default). - Setting
ProgressivePortals.HildirChests(server, off by default): Hildir's chests pass through their own biome's portal and up - Brass from the Elder Portal, Silver from the Frozen Portal, Bronze from the Black Portal. - Everyone who plays together needs it, the server included. Portals built from it disappear if the mod is removed.
Part of the MySix mod suite. Every mod in the suite needs MySix Core, which adds the
in-game mysix command for reading and changing settings. Settings are kept in the world itself,
so a world plays the same on any computer or server: a setting for everyone is changed once, by the
host or a server admin, and each player's own choices are kept in the world for that player.
Installing
Install with a mod manager - the Thunderstore Mod Manager, Gale and r2modman all work - and it
fetches BepInEx and MySix Core for you. To install by hand, install BepInExPack_Valheim first, then
unzip the DLL of MySix Core and of each MySix mod you want into BepInEx/plugins. Everyone
playing together should run the same versions.
Settings
The Settings wiki page lists this mod's 4 settings: what each does, its choices and default, who can change it, and the exact command to type. In short: press F5 in game to open the console (if nothing opens, add -console to Valheim's launch options) and type mysix to list every setting, mysix set <setting> <value> to change one.
Languages
What the MySix mods show you in play - the names and descriptions of their items and portals,
their messages on screen, and the Cartographer's map tab and marks - is in the language you play
Valheim in, in every language the game offers except Abenaki, which shows English for now as we
could not find a translation we trust. The mysix console command, the setting descriptions it
prints, the Settings wiki pages and the warnings before a server restart are in English only. We
mainly test in English; if something reads wrong in your language, please let us know.
Note on achievements
Valheim switches achievements off for anyone with a mod installed. MySix Mods Not Cheating, part of the MySix bundle, keeps them working.
Version 1.0.0. The Changelog tab lists what changed in each release.
