Rideable Boars lets you ride tamed boars with a saddle or ride boars bareback in Valheim.

Features

Installation

1. Install BepInExPack for Valheim.
2. Extract this archive into the main Valheim directory.
3. Confirm that these files exist:
   • Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/RideableBoars.dll
   • Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/RideableBoars/rideableboars_saddles
4. Start Valheim.

Do not rename or move the RideableBoars folder inside the plugins directory.

Controls

• E on an attached saddle: mount.
• E while mounted and not targeting another interactable object: dismount.
• Ctrl + E on a boar without a saddle: ride bareback.
• Shift + E on an attached saddle: remove and recover the saddle.
• W: move forward.
• Normal movement controls: steer.
• Space: jump.

Multiplayer

Install the same mod version on the dedicated server or hosting player and on every connecting client. The server skips graphical saddle setup automatically while keeping riding and network registration enabled.

Version 1.0.2 has been tested with Valheim 1.0.12, network version 40, on Windows clients and a headless Linux dedicated server.

The included Windows saddle AssetBundle contains Direct3D 11, Direct3D 12, and Vulkan shader variants. Headless dedicated servers skip the graphical bundle automatically.

Requirements

• Valheim 1.0.12 or a compatible Valheim 1.0 release
• BepInEx 5.4.23.5 or a compatible BepInEx 5 build

Updating from an earlier version

Delete an old BoarRiding.dll if it is still installed. Replace RideableBoars.dll and the RideableBoars asset folder with the files from this archive. Existing saddles and configuration files can remain in place.

Compatibility and removal

This mod creates the custom BoarSaddle item. Before permanently removing the mod, remove that item from player inventories, containers, and the world. Back up worlds and characters before installing or updating mods.
