Haldor Expansion is a Valheim mod for BepInEx + Jotunn that expands Haldor's trading and adds unique risk-reward equipment with custom combat mechanics.

Unique item mechanics
Hel's Oath
A bow built around a glass-cannon stamina playstyle.
Hel's Sacrifice
While Hel's Oath is equipped:
- 50% of maximum health is converted into maximum stamina;
- grants +20 Bows skill;
- the bow favors extreme stamina investment over safe health stacking.
Fenris — Hel's Touch
Wearing the full Fenris set allows bow damage from Hel's Oath to awaken Hel's Touch.
- builds up to five stages;
- each stage improves movement speed and reduces stamina costs;
- at Touch V the total bonus reaches +25% movement speed and -20% stamina cost for all actions;
- taking a combat hit removes one stage;
- removing Hel's Oath or breaking the full Fenris set disables the bonuses immediately;
- stored Touch stages survive for a short grace period, then decay one by one if the required loadout is not restored.
Hel's Embrace
Bow damage charges Hel's Embrace. When the charge reaches 100%, the ability is ready to use.
- press the middle mouse button (Mouse2) to activate Hel's Embrace;
- the next arrow fired becomes empowered;
- the activation key can be changed in the configuration;
- the empowered arrow deals increased direct damage;
- the impact creates a large explosion with 80% Lightning / 20% Frost damage;
- explosion damage does not fall off with distance inside its radius;
- damage scales heavily with stamina investment and the glass-cannon health/stamina ratio;
- the lower maximum health and the higher maximum stamina, the stronger Hel's Embrace becomes;
- activating Hel's Embrace at Hel's Touch V greatly increases its splash damage.
With the full Fenris set, Hel's Touch creates a tactical choice: you can maintain Hel's Touch V for its full passive bonuses, or unleash it through Hel's Embrace for a much stronger burst of damage, then build Hel's Touch back up again.
The charge requirement scales with world boss progression. Normal shots contribute their outgoing damage before the target's armor and damage resistances are applied, so resistant enemies do not make the ability charge artificially slower. The special shot itself never charges the next Hel's Embrace.
Hel's Embrace charge is stored on the individual bow, so accumulated charge survives unequipping, location changes, dropping the bow, and transferring it to another player.
Pelt of Helheim
A blackened cloak designed as the final piece of the Hel / Fenris archer setup.
Helheim's Ward becomes active only while all of the following are true:
- Pelt of Helheim is equipped;
- the full Fenris set is equipped;
- Hel's Oath is currently wielded;
- Hel's Touch V is active.
While the full synergy is active, the wearer becomes Very Resistant to Pierce damage.
Breaking any of the conditions removes the resistance immediately.
Thread of the Norns
A one-use survival trinket worn in the trinket slot.
When an equipped Thread of the Norns receives a lethal hit for its wearer:
- the trinket is consumed instead of allowing the player to die;
- health is restored to 50% of the health held before the lethal hit;
- the wearer receives 1.5 seconds of protection from health loss;
- the thread is permanently destroyed after activation.
Bone Crushers
Cestus weapon for aggressive close combat.
Main mechanics:
- taking damage builds a custom battle-fervor charge;
- the active ability becomes available when the charge is full;
- when the battle-fervor charge is full, press the middle mouse button (Mouse2) to activate the ability;
- the activation key can be changed in the configuration;
- creates a brief protective barrier;
- releases a shockwave around the player;
- grants bonus maximum health and very high attack speed;
- reduces armor while equipped.
Pit King's Cuirass
Aggressive armor designed around Bone Crushers.
- increases maximum health;
- works with Bone Crushers as part of the Steel Heart set bonus;
- the set improves the cestus active ability with stronger barrier strength and shockwave damage.
Cuirass of Silent Reckoning
Armor for surviving dangerous burst damage.
- when a post-armor hit would remove more than half of maximum health, only part of the damage is taken immediately;
- the remaining damage returns as delayed pain over the following seconds;
- gives the player time to react, but does not remove the eventual punishment.
Cloak of the Wounded Beast
Risky regeneration cloak.
- increases incoming damage;
- restores health every second;
- regeneration becomes stronger at lower health;
- fire, poison, and spirit damage suppress regeneration for a short time;
- healing is reduced when used together with the Cuirass of Silent Reckoning.
Cloak of Burned Resolve
Stamina-based defensive cloak.
- redirects 25% of incoming damage into stamina loss;
- the stamina cost is harsher than the redirected damage amount;
- if stamina is insufficient, the missing portion returns to health with increased damage.
Corrupted Brisingamen
A trinket-slot accessory that increases maximum carry weight.
Crossbow of the Shadow Hunt
Heavy crossbow designed for deliberate opening shots.
- high pierce damage;
- strong opening / backstab potential;
- heavy movement penalty;
- intended for slow, high-impact ranged combat.

Trophies
Supported trophy groups include:
- Meadows;
- Black Forest;
- Ocean;
- Swamp;
- Mountains;
- Plains;
- Mistlands;
- Ashlands;
- Deep North;
- boss trophies.
Each supported trophy can have its own sell value.
Unlisted trophies can also use a configurable fallback sell value, allowing trophies introduced by other mods or future game updates to remain sellable.
Configuration
The configuration file is created automatically after the mod is started.
Shop prices, shop progression requirements, trophy sell prices, core sell prices, and synchronized Hel's Oath gameplay settings are controlled by the server in multiplayer.
Shop prices
The purchase price of every item added by Haldor Expansion can be changed independently.
Example:
Hel Oath Price = 2500
Pelt of Helheim Price = 2500
Thread of the Norns Price = 6666
Iron Price = 225
Silver Price = 550
World progression requirements
Every item added to Haldor's shop can optionally require a Valheim world global key.
Example:
Hel Oath RequiredGlobalKey = defeated_queen
Silver RequiredGlobalKey = defeated_gdking
Leave the value empty to keep an item available without a progression requirement:
Hel Oath RequiredGlobalKey =
Common boss progression keys:
defeated_eikthyr - Eikthyr
defeated_gdking - The Elder
defeated_bonemass - Bonemass
defeated_dragon - Moder
defeated_goblinking - Yagluth
defeated_queen - The Queen
defeated_fader - Fader
defeated_frozenking - Kall Fimbulbringer
Hel's Oath settings
Hel's Oath exposes synchronized balance settings including:
- base damage required for a full Hel's Embrace charge;
- explosion radius;
- normal Hel's Embrace coefficient;
- Hel's Touch V Embrace coefficient;
- Hel's Touch stack interval.
The active ability key is configurable and uses the middle mouse button by default:
Ability Key = Mouse2
The base charge requirement is automatically scaled by world boss progression. Enemy armor and resistance do not reduce charge gain from a valid normal shot.
Trophy sell prices
Supported trophies have individual configurable sell values.
Example:
Eikthyr Trophy Price = 70
Bonemass Trophy Price = 150
Fader Trophy Price = 1000
Setting a trophy sell price to 0 disables selling that trophy.
A configurable fallback is also available:
Unlisted Trophy Price = 10
Core sell prices
Surtling Core Price = 50
Black Core Price = 100
Molten Core Price = 150
Setting a sell price to 0 disables selling that item.
Multiplayer configuration
The server configuration is authoritative while connected to a multiplayer server.
Clients use the server's synchronized values while connected; their local configuration is not permanently overwritten.
