README
Lethal Company Hero Mode Challenge
An overhaul of the vanilla game loop designed for players that want a fair challenge while also not deviating from the core identity of Lethal Company. This pack is designed for groups of 4-6 players, but no more than 8.
The completion goal of this modpack is to clear Quota 15.
Are you up for the challenge?
Can you go further?
Before diving in...
-
It is HIGHLY recommended that you ignore any individual mod updates within this pack as it may cause things to break. Please wait until the modpack itself gets updated, and only update the
LC_Hero_Mode
mod itself. -
When updating the pack, always check the CHANGELOG tab to see if any mods were removed. If so, these mods and their respective config files must be manually deleted as updates do not remove them automatically. A list of related
.cfg
files will be provided in the CHANGELOG under the repsective update version to assist with manual cleanup. (Deleting and reinstalling a fresh copy of the pack circumvents having to do this). -
Know that every mod in this pack has been carefully configured to preserve game balance. Mods such as reserved slots are included, but they have been given an in-game cost via terminal purchase. Other mods like Better Stamina are also here, but qualify as a "Difficulty Modifier." Anything in the Difficulty Modifier category may be freely toggled off if you would like to further increase the challenge. (See Difficulty Modifier section)
-
Please be sure to read the Known Issues section at the bottom as it provides workarounds for each of the known issues.
-
Below you will find a few spoilers you may reveal to better prepare yourself. They will be divided into two categories based on what they contain. Feel free to go in blind, but I highly recommend reading the first set of spoilers titled "What you need to know." After you've played a few rounds, feel free to come back and read the remaining spoilers.
Spoilers
What you need to know (Recommended)
- All moons have been reduced to 0 credits.
- All moons except for Experimentation are hidden and locked in the terminal.
- The ship will auto route to the The Company when the deadline reaches zero days.
- Upon clearing a quota, two random moons will be unlocked and become permanently available in the terminal. The moons you unlock are also displayed in the text chat upon unlocking.
- The deadline now scales with the quota. You will begin with 1-day deadlines. The deadline will rise to 2-days when your quota reaches the mid 800's, and 3-days when it approaches 2,300.
- After you visit a moon, its scrap is set to 0% meaning an immediate revisit will yield zero scrap. This removes the ability to spam high value moons while also encouraging the exploration of all moons. Moons will regenerate their scrap by 5% per day completed (company days not counted). You may view a moon's regeneration status by typing the word
tracker
in the terminal. - Weather bonuses are a thing. Going to moons with a weather condition will not only cause more scrap to spawn but the scrap will be worth more. (Apparatus not affected)
What you're better off experiencing blind (Not Recommended)
- The inclusion of Wesley's Moons adds 32 new moons to the game each with their unique gimmicks and scrap items.
- The inclusion of Wesley's Interiors adds 7 new interiors to the game, and each has been tied down to a specific moon(s).
- Immersive scrap adds 40+ new scrap items that fit the Lethal Company aesthetic, and will only spawn on Vanilla moons. Each item's value, weight, and handedness has been compared to vanilla items to ensure appropriate spawn rarities have been set
- Certain scrap items from both Immersive Scrap & Wesley's Moons can function as alternate weapons. Some deal the same damage as a shovel, while others deal double, and one can deal quadruple.
- The apparatus is now worth 350 credits, but pulling it will now trigger a meltdown on most moons. You will have 2 minutes to return to the ship before the facility explodes. Special apparatus items may be worth more.
- The inside of the facility becomes radioactive if the apparatus is pulled which will damage players and blur their vision. Everyone inside immediately takes 10 damage when it's pulled and an increasing tick of damage at the top of every hour while inside. From full HP, you can survive for just under 5-minutes in the facility.
- The Spore Lizard's purple cloud is now toxic and will rapidly damage players standing inside of it.
- Spiders deal less damage, but set up bigger web arrangements to create roadblocks.
- Raw Values for weather bonuses
- Rainy: +5% scrap at +10% value.
- Foggy: +10% scrap at +15% value.
- Flooded: +15% scrap at +20% value.
- Stormy: +20% scrap at +35% value.
- Eclipsed: +25% scrap at +50% value.
Difficulty Modifiers
These may be toggled on/off at your discretion to customize your run.
Better Stamina (Enabled by Default)
- Gives the players roughly 30% more stamina, increases regeneration, and decreases slowdown & stamina consumption when encumbered.
Buyable Shotguns and Shotgun Shells (Enabled by Default)
- Adds shotguns and shells to the store for purchase. These are meant to be late game unlocks & a compensation for the potential to never see Nutcrackers. Shotguns are priced at 3,000 credits and shells are 50 per.
Rebalanced Mineshafts (Enabled by Default)
- Reworks the dungeon generation of mineshafts to be more on par with the difficulty of Facility and Mansion interiors.
- Scrap is more evenly distributed throughout the entire interior rather than being 90% cave focused.
- Adjusts the geometry of the walls during underwater sections to make getting stuck on terrain less likely.
Reserved Item Slots (Enabled by Default)
- Adds additional item slots for Flashlights, Walkies, and Keys that can be purchased from the terminal.
- Buying a slot will give it to the entire group.
- Flashlight slot costs 1,800 credits, Walkie Slot costs 700 credits, and Key slot costs 300 credits.
- Binds F to toggle flashlights and X for walkies by default.
Remove Interior Fog (Enabled by Default)
- Removes the rare Halloween event fog that can sometimes appear within the facility.

Tips & Tricks
If you're struggling
Don't oversell too much.
- Since your early quotas are only 1-day deadlines, you will not be able to build up as much of a scrap stash as you normally would and it is highly recommended that you only sell to quota. Max selling on Quota 1 may be worth it due to the overtime bonus if you're aiming for an early item purchase, but don't oversell too much going forward. Save as much as you can on the ship in order to meet the higher quotas.
Combo the Belt Bag with the Jetpack.
- It sucks having to fly back to an entrance only to walk two-handed items back while also being weighed down by the jetpack. Bring the belt bag with you so that after you land, you can bag the jetpack and reduce your weight for the walk back.
Always get the Apparatus.
- With the Apparatus now being worth 350 or more, it’s a huge value item that can really make or break your runs. Make sure you don't pull it too early since it'll trigger a meldown. Pulling the apparatus is best saved as the last thing you do before leaving a moon.
Don't sell the alternate scrap weapon if you don't have to.
- Items like the Fireaxe, Baseball Bat, Circular Saw, etc. can make very quick work of enemies and should be kept around to make difficult encounters easier. These items are rare which makes them something you don’t want to lose.
Aim for moons with weather conditions, especially in the late game.
- While weather can be a hindrance, the bonuses they give can make it more than worth your while, especially in the late game when you’re better equipped. A clear Experimentation spawning 10 pieces of loot worth 650 scrap becomes 12 items worth a total of 1,170 when eclipsed. Higher tiered moons become extraordinarily valuable under severe weather.
Have a Ship Person
- Not necessary at the start of the day unless the moon has harsh weather. If the weather is clear, it’s recommended that someone start transferring loot back to the ship around 12pm-1pm, and after the transferring is complete, that person should remain at the ship to ensure that no loot is lost should the rest of the crew die. Another crewmate should take over transferring once the ship person is done with the initial transfer.
Known Issues
Progressive Deadline
- Issue: If the group fails to meet quota and is ejected/fired, they are reloaded back on the ship to start a new run. If you continue playing after this "soft restart," the deadline will not be correct nor will the days progress properly resulting in a softlock.
- Workaround: Should you get fired and get a game over, close the lobby after it reloads and delete the save. Create a new save file for every new attempt. This will ensure that the deadline starts where it should and things will progress properly.
GeneralImprovements (Monitors)
- Issue: When resuming a save, the monitors that track the day count and current quota will reset back to 1; this is just a visual bug.
- Workaround: Simply complete your next day and the numbers will correctly update at the next auto-save.
Meltdown
- Issue: The forced explosion after the 2-minute timer may fail to happen for some people.
- Workaround: This desync can be fixed if one of the affected players pulls the ship lever. If no one can pull the lever, the group must wait until the day naturally ends at midnight.
