README

betrayalDLC v0.3.2

In short, I added an imposter mechanic and more ways to kill your friends. At present this pack is still very much in the testing phase.

This is a modpack addon intended to go alongside my other modpack, basicmods. It might also work with contentexpansion but is not intended for this, some reconfiguration might be needed. I tried to include configurations for stuff from basicmods that might interfere with this pack's concept (eg. bodycams).

That said, if you are using this with basicmods as intended...

FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE it is recommended to:

  • disable AlwaysActiveWalkie
  • disable Zoom - due to a keybind conflict with LethalPhones that couldn't be resolved
  • disable MeleeFixes - to restore PvP power of shovels

Noteworthy mods

  • InfectedCompany - main mod this pack is centered around. Some of your crewmates might not be what they seem.
  • We_Need_To_Go_Deeper - To force riskier gameplay, you can only enter through the main entrance, and can only leave through fire exits.
  • PushCompany - you can shove your friends. why would you want to do that i wonder?
  • Lethal_Doors_Fixed - monsters are scary, so for safety reasons, door hydraulics have been made more lethal. i'm sure nothing bad will happen.
  • LethalPhones - low-tech comms
  • Mirage, GhostCodes, Malfunctions, Crawlingmine - for extra chaos and paranoia
  • KeepScrap - you won't lose all your stuff when the party wipes, so murder til your heart's content without worrying about the financial consequences.
  • NoPenaltyReimagined - don't worry about losing funds when corpses are left behind either.

What do I need to know in-game?

  • Players have a new objective to win against the infected: meet a per-moon "round quota".
  • The ship is not allowed to leave early! If you have enough scrap, focus on surviving until it's time to go.
  • Press [P] to PANIC, drop everything and gain a temporary speed boost.
  • Can't afford walkie talkies? Scared and alone? Quarantine got you down? No worries! You can whip out your company cellphone with [~]. Hold [Z] to dial the old fashioned way for a good chat with your pals. Don't forget to share your phone number with them!
  • When there is at least a single active infected roaming inside of the facility, Quarantine begins. During Quarantine, various functions are disabled. Quarantine ends when they're all neutralized or if the infection/insanity recedes.
  • Higher tier moons are free.
  • A few new tools are available in the shop - handheld radar and incendiary grenade.
  • A single use Infected Detector can be found as scrap, use it wisely.
  • Shovels are cheaper and more effective. You can bust down locked doors with a shovel and some effort. Turrets can also be temporarily disabled by whacking them.

INFECTED players:

  • Your goal is to prevent the players from meeting their round quota, either by killing them all, or otherwise preventing the quota from being met when the ship leaves.
  • You can push players with [E], lock them in dire situations with keys, or close the ship doors at the right moment to cause "accidents".
  • INFECTION MECHANICS:
    • Other infected players will have highlighted names. Work together, or don't.
    • Once inside the facility you will build up Insanity over time.
    • When your Insanity meter is full you can transform into the infected monster with [T]. Finding and holding the Artifact scrap will increase your insanity gain rate.
    • Once transformed, monsters will ignore you and you will be faster and tougher. You gain an ability with a 20 second cooldown, which allows you to murder a player with [Q].
    • When quarantine phase ends, any infected that hasn't activated monster mode will lose 65% of their insanity. You might get a second chance, but be wary of missing your moment.

Other notes

Known issues

  • When infected, other infected nameplates don't appear to be highlighted as they should be. This is probably due to some other mod messing with nameplates, I'm working on it.

Probably won't be fixed

  • Game says you're not allowed to leave until 7, but may prevent you from leaving until later. kinda funny though, might leave this bug. seems very on-brand for The Company
  • Some players experienced a crash relating to navmesh something something, not sure of cause. Can't do anything about this until I can reproduce the issue.
  • Some players have had strange behavior relating to speed/weight/encumbrance? Can't do anything about this until I can reproduce the issue.

Troubleshooting

  • If the modpack updates and mods have been removed, your mod manager may not automatically delete them from your profile. You'll probably see mod mismatches if you try to play in multiplayer and you may encounter game breaking bugs. I'd recommend a fresh modpack installation to ensure you don't keep unused mods.
