AimAssist

Controller aim assist for Mycopunk. Gently pulls your aim onto nearby enemies and eases your look speed near a target, so it's easier to stay on. Gamepad only — keyboard/mouse is untouched. Configured via ModSettingsMenu (F10).

Note

Please know that this is my best-effort implementation of such a thing, and still may be a little wonky. Here be dragons.

What it does

Mycopunk barely helps controller players aim — the only built-in assist is a slight look-speed slowdown while your crosshair is already on an enemy. This mod replaces that with three things that work together:

  • Slowdown — your look speed eases off near an enemy, so small stick movements land more precisely. It fades back in smoothly when you come off a target, so there's no snap.
  • Tracking — once your crosshair is on an enemy, the camera follows it a little, so strafing enemies don't slip off. When the enemy dies or leaves, the pull tapers off over a moment instead of cutting out — the camera keeps drifting toward it, then lets go.
  • Snap — pressing Aim gives a light pull toward the nearest enemy in front of you.

The assist is strongest up close and fades out with distance. It only ever helps you toward a target — it will not lock your aim or aim for you (see Fairness).

Installation

Thunderstore

  1. Install BepInExPack_Mycopunk.
  2. Install ModSettingsMenu by Sparroh.
  3. Install this mod through your mod manager.
  4. Launch the game.

Manual

  1. Install BepInExPack_Mycopunk as above.
  2. Install ModSettingsMenu as above.
  3. Extract AimAssist.dll into BepInEx/plugins/ in your Mycopunk directory.
  4. Launch the game.

Usage

Play on a controller and it works — no keybind, nothing to hold. Press F10 in-game to open ModSettingsMenu, find AimAssist, and adjust the settings under "General". Changes apply instantly.

Configuration

Setting Default Description
Enabled true Turn the aim assist on or off.
Strength 100 Overall strength as a percent of the default feel (0 = off, 100 = default; live).
Distance 60 Range in metres the assist reaches — full strength up close, fading to nothing by this distance (10 to 150, live).

Fairness

Client-side, and only affects your own aim. It needs line of sight, so it can't help with enemies you can't see. It's capped so it can only nudge the camera, never whip it around, and it always stops short of the target — the last bit of aim is always yours. It can't lock on and it can't aim for you, at any setting.
