Beeswax

Adds beeswax from player beehives and wild nests. Equip it and coat wood, hardwood, and wood iron pieces to keep rain and standing water from wearing them down.

What you get

Beeswax — a heavy lump of wax from the hive. Stacks to 30 by default.
Player beehives — produce beeswax alongside honey, about 30% slower. Each cycle gives 2 wax (up to 10 stored in the hive).
Wild nests — breaking a world-spawned bee nest drops 1 beeswax.
Waterproofing — equip beeswax, look at a coatable piece, and left-click to apply. Costs 1 wax per piece. Works on wood, hardwood, and wood iron poles/beams.
Waxed look — waxed pieces can show a warm glossy tint (on by default). Turn visuals off in config to use hover labels instead.

No crafting recipe — wax only comes from bees.

How to use

Equip beeswax from your inventory or hotbar.
Look at a wood, hardwood, or wood iron piece.
Left-click to apply wax.

Waxed pieces are protected from rain and water damage. With default settings, waxed wood shows a glossy look. While holding beeswax, waxed pieces show Already waxed when hover text is enabled.

Install with r2modman (recommended)

Install r2modman.
Select Valheim and open your profile.
Make sure BepInExPack Valheim is installed.
Download this mod and click Install with Mod Manager,
or go to Settings → Import local mod and pick the zip / Release folder contents.
Click Start modded.

Manual install (BepInEx)

Install BepInExPack Valheim if you do not already have it.
Copy the mod files into your Valheim BepInEx/plugins directory (for example BepInEx\plugins\ModdedWolf-Beeswax\).
Launch Valheim through BepInEx (or your mod launcher).

Configuration

After the first launch, settings are created at:

Valheim\BepInEx\config\ModdedWolf.Beeswax.cfg

You can also edit them in r2modman under Config for this mod.

Waxed Visuals

Setting	Default	What it does
`ShowWaxedVisuals`	true	Warm glossy look on waxed wood. When off, hover text can be used instead
`ShowHoverTextWithVisuals`	false	Also show hover labels while waxed visuals are on

By default, hover text only appears when waxed visuals are off. Enable ShowHoverTextWithVisuals to show both gloss and labels.

Hover Text

Only applies when waxed visuals are off, or when ShowHoverTextWithVisuals is on.

Restart Valheim after changing config values.

Multiplayer

Everyone who wants to see the item, hive drops, waxed pieces, or visuals needs the mod installed. The server does not need a separate plugin package beyond what players run client-side for this release.
