Welcome Research Technician
RND stands for Research and Development, and your job is to collect "samples" for the company.
This is a modpack that focuses on diversifying and expanding the core experience of Lethal Company, while maintaining its horror, cooperative aspects, and feeling of progression and discovery.
Additionally, this modpack is an attempt to highlight the best mods I could find, without sacrificing performance to an unbearable degree.
Key Features
- More store items, scrap (200+ probably), enemies (12), interiors (19), moons (22), weathers (4), gameplay mechanics, and even custom music. More everything, but hopefully not overwhelming.
- Some rare events added, such as malfunctions. Go discover them!
- Each moon you go to should feel unique in every single aspect: scrap, enemies, interiors have all been adjusted and pre-configured.
- New strategies: finding crates, hunting enemies, progressing Late Game Upgrades using the apparatus. Find the strategy that you think works best.
Key Mods
Modpack Too Hard?
Try the Easy Mode Add-on. I sure need it to play lol.

FULL OVERVIEW
RND includes several gameplay additions and changes from Vanilla Lethal Company, Highlighted below:
Additions:
Moons:
Interiors:
- 19 interiors have been added (hoo boy!).
- Each moon should have a unique interior selection (1 main interior and 1 rare interior).
- Most of the early game interiors are more for aesthetics and less gimmincky (Cozy Office, Scoopy’s Interiors, few vanilla interiors and more). While later game moons have the more gimmicky or weird interiors (Wesley’s interiors, LC Office, Mantif, and more)
Entities:
- 12 entities have been added/enabled (a few of the mods have some extra entities that I disabled).
- Most of them are hostile interior entities, with 1 passive interior entity.
- Each moon has been configured to have a different selection of vanilla and modded enemies to better round out the uniqueness of each moon.
- Some harder enemies are rare, and gradually become less rare the more you play…
Scrap:
- I didn’t even bother to count how much scrap was added, it is probably 200+
- Each moon has a custom scrap pool to include thematically themed scrap, while keeping some of the weird out of place ones, just like Vanilla.
- Scrap mods such as Immersive scraps, Vanilla Content Expansion, and Wesley’s scraps for their moons are included. And more.
- There are more store items, and these items can be found inside as scrap (using the Remnants mod).
Weather:
- 4 new weather events have been added
- Transitional weather and unknown weather is also active
- Weather will alter the value and quantity of scrap on the current moon in a net positive manner. Find out what each weather does!
- Cloudy: used to not do anything, now it makes rare enemies more common. Watch out for Cloudy!
Events:
- FacilityMeltdown is enabled: when you pull the apparatus; the facility might blow up. Each moon has a different chance of the meltdown occurring, with late game moons having a higher chance. Find out which moons have more unstable energy sources!
- Malfunctions: as you progress, your ship will start having problems. This includes randomly routing or having to wait until night to take off. I made sure some of the more annoying malfunctions were disabled.
- Meteor showers from vanilla are more common.
Custom Assets:
- Custom Emblem (title screen) and theme music.
- A custom intercom voice line, or 5.
- A nice piece of ASCII art on the terminal.
- Custom lore tapes. Go find them!
- Popular mods such as Lethal resonance and PizzaTowerEscapeMusic have been added and tweaked:
- Most moons have unique stingers and ambient music, some of which I made myself (to an extent, I might make some more). These tracks include some music from Lethal resonance (by LethalResonance) and Ambient Pack Music (by Val_de_Travers).
- When the meltdown event occurs. Custom music (I made it!) will play.
Other:
- More traps, ship upgrades, flora, and interactable objects (crates) on the surface of every moon.
- Open Body Cams: watch your friends in first person view!
- Lethalphones: Call your friends by pressing “y”!
Changes:
Enemies:
- Some Vanilla entities have been tweaked:
- Bunker spider: makes more webs, does less damage.
- Ghost girl: Messes with the ship now, no where is safe from ghost girl.
- Coil head: it might not be there when you look back.
- Most Vanilla enemies have been made slightly rarer since modded enemies have been introduced.
- Some modded enemies have been tweaked a little from their default settings, for rebalancing and for fun.
Progression:
Quality of life:
- Several bugs have been patched through various mods.
- The scanner will give you increase night vision, but beware!
- The terminal feels better, looks better, and has more options for gameplay and fun.
- The ship will automatically route to the company building after the final day: I actually don’t know what causes this.
- Additional inventory slots have been given: a flashlight slot (scanner was feeling a little strong and this just makes sense) and a walkie talkie slot (to offset the strength of a free Lethal Phone).
- Spectating should be better. I rarely die first so I am actually not too sure.
Rebalancing:
- Lock picker, extension ladder, personal radar, signal translator, weedkiller, and inverse teleporter have been buffed.
- Several vanilla maps have a chance to be reworked (Map Improvements mod).
- Embrion scrap has been reworked.
- Each moon has a gameplay “theme” when it comes to scrap: some have more weapons, two-handed items, flash lights, etc... Go discover them!
- Each moon should have a similar value of items as vanilla, or as the mod creators originally intended, the types of scrap have been shuffled. Themed moons will typically have lower value scrap to accommodate for their specialized scrap pool.
Known Issues:
- Crashes when starting the modpack. I think this happens when Faster_Load_Asset_Bundles is loading new data/mods, It usually goes away after starting the modpack a few times.
- Fire exit blocked: Some interiors do not like being too small, this may happen in single player (as interior size scales dynamically) or just randomly. I'll have to do some RND to find the right balance to prevent this issue.
- Inventory desync: Some items cause it, low performance may cause it, I would love to know a solution to it. But it hasn't happened to me recently.
- Gordion planet desync: Sometimes a player can't leave the ship on gordion and everyone else can. I don't know what causes it, and it hasn't happened in a bit for me. But it still might happen idk.
- Can't land or interact with ship: This seems to be an autosave bug, I am looking into it, but it might just be a large modpack problem. I have also had it happen in vanilla.
- Can't hear my friends: There might be a mod to fix this. I have definitely had this happen in vanilla.
- It won't be fixed if I don't know about it! Let me know if you run into problems and I will try to get back in a timely fashion. I am pretty busy so please be patient!
Future Plans (maybe):
- Rebalancing: I have limited playtesting in the modpack and don't know if there are busted moons, strategies, or if there is something too difficult (I play on easy mode).
- More moons: I am thinking about adding some of the Generic moons and any other mods that I think would fit. It takes a lot of time though so no promises.
- More custom stuff: maybe even-even more unique stingers for each moon, maybe an ARG, I have thought about it!
- Shrimp: I want to add shrimp, everything is ready for it to be implemented. Waiting for bug fixes.
- Lethal Elements: Waiting for the stable release to add the extra two weathers.
- More daytime entities: Maybe Biodiversity? I'll have to think about it.
- Hard Mode
Special Recognition:
- SillySquad for making Central Config. I probably spent more time on Excel than actually playing the modpack.
- loaforc for making FacilityMeltdown. Awesome mod and using PizzaTowerEscapeMusic inspired me to make my own music for the modpack.
- Scoops for making Lethalphones. Love this mod. I had some issues integrating it initalially, but the issues were resolved.
- I only made a few of the assets for this modpack and curated/configured the mods, everything else was made by the very talented modding community. Go check out the Lethal Company modding discord.
