VillagePlebs
Viking companions who play like a player. They follow you through portals, crypts and onto your ship, fight with parries, dodges and bows, and at home farm, fish, smelt, cook and craft their own better gear while you are away.🧔 VillagePlebs
Viking companions who play the game the way you do. Summon one, or several, and they come on your adventures: through portals, into crypts and caves, onto your ship. They fight beside you with timed parries, dodge rolls, flanking and bows, and tell you when a place is too dangerous for their gear.
Send them home and they get on with their own lives. They take a bed and a chest, chop, mine, farm, fish, hunt and smelt, cook their own meals, keep the fires burning, repair your base, and work their way up to better gear at your stations. While you're away, they catch up on all of it.
- Plays like a player: food, stamina, carry weight, weather, rest, and skills that rise as they use them.
- Takes orders your way: point at something and press
H, use the command wheel, or let it read what you're doing and pitch in. - Gets better as it goes: it sets itself missions to make and upgrade its gear, and keeps a journal of its life.
- Up to you how many: one free companion by default, more to buy from the traders, all set by the server.

⭐ Features:
- Press
Jto summon your companion or open its menu (Eon it too). HoldJ: your companions come with you, or go home. A new companion gets straight to work on its own mission (making or upgrading its gear; one that needs bars waits until there is a smelter near home) where you summoned it, until you tell it to come with you. - Command wheel:
Left Shift + Qopens a wheel for the companion you look at: its orders and errands round the outside, how it fights inside. Hover a wedge and it grows; let go or click to choose. - Point and command: aim at something and press
H: an enemy (it attacks it), a tree, rock or plant (it works it), your chest (it puts its things in), a cart (it pulls it), its tombstone (it fetches its things), a free bed (it makes it its bed), the ground (it waits there), the sky (it comes back). It only takes an order it has the tools for, in its bag or its own chests (it fetches them first), and your orders come before its mission; jobs it has no tool for wait while it works on its mission. - Let it decide: it reads what you are doing. It fights beside you, mines or chops beside you and keeps close while you explore; where a place is too dangerous for its gear it tells you and only defends.
- Combat: timed parries (it learns each creature's swing), dodge rolls, flanking, backstabs, weapon specials, meads, kiting with a bow, and care around bosses.
- Follows you anywhere: through portals, into crypts and caves, onto boats and through doors; it steers round stakes and fires and gets itself unstuck.
- Home life: it takes a free bed and empty chests, works towards better gear (gathering, smelting, crafting and upgrading at your stations), hunts, cooks, keeps its fires burning and repairs its gear and your base. It never chops, mines or breaks rocks inside a base: it heads out past it for wood and stone, and it never digs the ground or mines rocks standing on ground you have worked with the hoe or cultivator. While you are away it catches up on all of it. How far from home it goes to gather is up to you, for each companion: its menu, Home, Goes as far as (10 to 80 m, 30 to start with).
- Farming: send it on the Plant crops or Harvest crops errand. With a cultivator it sows seeds in neat rows on the tilled ground at home (matching what already grows there); harvesting needs no tool. It fetches the cultivator and seeds from its own chests, and while you are away it brings in ripe crops and sows the free ground on its own. Works with Plant Everything: it plants and picks the berry bushes, mushrooms and flowers it adds to the cultivator, and follows its crop settings.
- Fishing and smelting: send it fishing and it casts a real rod with the right bait (its Fishing skill grows as it reels in), or have it run the smelters near home: emptying them, feeding fuel and ore from the chests, and taking the bars home.
- Sailing: stand by a free ship and choose Sail a ship (on the wheel or in its menu: Orders). It takes the helm and a chart opens: click where it should go, and it plots a course round the coasts. Once it sets sail it takes no other orders and does no missions (the wind is always behind it, its ship takes no damage except from the Ashlands sea unless you turn Ships Take Damage on, and it keeps going even when you are far away). Arriving somewhere it stays aboard until you send it on: Sail a ship again sends it somewhere new or home, and Go home sails it home. Once home it steps ashore and carries on with its orders and missions. Aboard with it, you can take the helm yourself: it hands it over and rides along with you. Docks: the chart lists the world's docks, shared by every player (the host keeps them in
BepInEx/VillagePlebs/Docks; on a dedicated server without the mod each player keeps their own instead). Click one to send the ship there, where it takes a free berth clear of the ships already in; name a clicked spot to add one, and the end of any voyage away from home is kept as a dock too. You can ride along. The sea chart is worked out from the world seed the first time (a few seconds) and kept inBepInEx/VillagePlebs/Sea. - Go shopping: the Go shopping errand (once you have found Haldor, Hildir or the Bog Witch) lists what the traders you have found sell. Tick what you want and press Buy now: it pays from the coins in its bag, is gone for 15 minutes, and comes back with the goods (what does not fit in its bag is set down at its feet).
- Needs like a player: food, stamina, skills that rise, carry weight, weather and rest.
- Gear slots of its own (swords, knives, polearms, spears, a spare weapon, shield, bow and arrows, axe, pickaxe, hammer, cultivator, fishing rod and bait, armour, belt and food): give and take its gear and bag from its menu (Inventory). It puts its tools away when it is done with them.
- A journal of its life, small talk that fits the moment, and a menu with its status (and journal), stats, missions, orders, home, inventory, looks and your plebs. The Status tab ends with its activity log: what it has been doing and why, line by line, with a button to open the log file for a bug report.
- EpicMMO System: it earns experience and levels from what it kills and gathers.
- StarLevelSystem: it leaves companions alone, as it does players: no copies, no star levels or modifiers, and it never deletes one.
- Languages: English, Russian, German, Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, French, Polish and Turkish, following the game's language setting.
⚙️ Configuration:
Settings are in BepInEx/config/MagicMike.VillagePlebs.cfg. Change them in game in the Mod Settings panel (F7), or in r2modman/Gale/Configuration Manager. Fight Range and Show Decisions are also in the companion's menu. How far each companion goes from home to gather isn't in the file: it is set for each one in its menu (Home: Goes as far as). The settings marked synced are the server's in multiplayer.

👥 Multiplayer:
Everyone in the world needs the mod, the host too: without it the game deletes saved companions. Each companion belongs to whoever summoned it, and only they can give it orders. The host decides how many companions each player can have, what they do while you're away, respawn time, base health and stamina, when they eat, starting skill and EpicMMO experience.
Restart the game after installing or updating so the companion registers cleanly.
