Arduous Hardships
A mod pack I've been developing for Lethal Company for over 8 months (as of December 13th, 2024), Arduous Hardships completely changes the way Lethal Company is structured, without merely modded additions and nothing else. Every single moon has had their scrap, monsters, power levels, etc, all changed, and they are no longer the same as they once were, including the modded moons! Some moons have been buffed from vanilla, but the mod pack as a whole is still insanely hard to deal with, and nothing will ever truly be "easy".
Contents
- Six(?) new moons
- One(?) new interior
- One(?) new monster
- Several new scrap items, a few of which can provide harm/debuffs to you
- Fully configured skins for monsters for each individual moon, two common, an uncommon, a rare, and a very rare skin for almost each individual monster spawn on each moon
- Rebalances, buffs, and new mechanics to some store items
- Massive Company Cruiser buff
- Five(?) custom logs to find, two on Offense, one on Adamance, one on Embrion (COMPANY ISSUED STATEMENT: DO NOT READ THIS ONE), and one on Aquar (a modded moon)
- Several cosmetic visual changes/additions, including new Mineshaft cave types, Gordion has a storm happening always, March always has rain, etc
- Does not contain any meme sounds, emotes, etc, this is a serious attempt at a good, respectable mod pack, that is also difficult. Heed this warning if you do not take Lethal Company at least some-what seriously
- Secrets! (if you care about these, do not scroll through the mod list, mod pack plugins, or configs, please)
IMPORTANT
There is a custom log on Experimentation that mentions various important things. PLEASE read it if it is your first time playing this mod pack, you WILL see it, so don't worry if it's too hidden.

Version 1.8.5
EMERGENCY UPDATE #3:
OpenBodyCams has returned, and the reason is it was not at all the reason the invisible monsters issue was happening, it was the Harbinger the entire time, it just didn't happen unless a specific thing was occurring as it spawned in, and this bug was basically guaranteed to happen on Espira. The Harbinger's dev has fixed the bug, and now everything is all hunky-doory! OpenBodyCams being readded and mod updates are the only changes made, the only other difference is I decreased the price of the bodycam ship upgrade to 150 credits, and disabled the text on the right monitor from the center cause it was unneeded. This will likely be the last update for a good while, enjoy!
Version 1.8.4
- Reduced the amount of hazards that spawn on Adamance
- Reworked Artifice's nighttime spawn chances
- Reduced Aquar's spawn curve multiplier
- Made Seichi more profitable
- This was actually done last version, but I made it even more changed
- Fixed Shisha still being in Vow's and March's daytime spawn weight string
- Slight README updates
Version 1.8.3
- Removed CodeRebirth entirely, for good this time
- Increased the value ranges of the cement bag and gas tank
- Fixed some CentralConfig settings having stuff that isn't in the mod pack anymore
- Fixed Dev Log 4 mentioning the Puppeteer like it's still a part of the mod pack
Version 1.8.2
- Removed the Puppeteer
- Added the mysterious crystal to the sell list command from SellMyScrap
- Corrected how to do the individual item sells in the Mod Pack Info log
Version 1.8.1
- Added various important scrap items to the list of items to not sell from SellMyScrap commands
- Added gas tank, cement bag, rose, and Jester Plushie to the SellMyScrap list command
- Removed pikaSleep from the list command
- Fixed various incorrect information of the Mod Pack Info log
- Added mention of SellMyScrap commands to the Mod Pack Info log
- Added a new custom log to Seichi
- Fixed CustomStoryLogs placement tool being enabled
Version 1.8.0
- Distributed new scrap items added by Catalyst across most moons, their weights and value ranges were also altered
- Altered the chances of monsters spawning indoors on Thallasic in favor of the Harbinger spawning more often there
- Increased the power level of the Puppeteer to 6
- Side note: The Puppeteer is being contended for removal, I no longer enjoy it as much as I did initially due to various issues with the voodoo doll it gives players. While I acknowledge it's planned to be nerfed a bit, some possible counters I did not know before exist, the Jester no longer pushes the voodoo doll, and the bug where the Puppeteer is not stunnable will be fixed, I am unsure if this will be enough to make me want to keep it, but we will see
- Altered monster spawns on Aquar and Catalyst to balance out the Puppeteer better
- Added lollipops and peppermints from UsualScrap across various moons, same value range as candy
- Made candy 0 LBS
- Made garbage lids no longer able to be picked up by the belt bag
- Increased Embrion's minimum and maximum scrap (37-43)
- Increased Bozoros' spawn curve multiplier
- Made the Harbinger basically guaranteed to spawn first on Bozoros, also removed the Jester from the indoor spawns
- Disabled the recent CodeRebirth additions
Version 1.7.3
- Fixed the issues with the custom log "Horror", how it was not on Aquar and the README still said Spectate, apologies!
Version 1.7.2
- Increased the time the Harbinger teleports itself to 40 seconds
- Fixed Mod Pack Info mentioning Spectate
Version 1.7.1
- Fixed Adoration not having a cave type from Chameleon
- Slightly increased Adoration's spawn curve scaler
Version 1.7.0
- Due to the recent LLL update, I only want moons that are up to date with it now. Hawalia has been replaced with Thallasic, and Spectate has been replaced with Aquar, I've wanted Hawalia replaced deep down for a bit anyways. Since Symbiosis also being included would've broke a personal rule I made for myself (no moons from the same creator twice), it was also replaced, by Adoration specifically
- Overhauled Rend cause I hated it
- Lowered Dine's interior size and spawn curve scaler a bit
- Decreased the weight of Sizable Scissors to 13 LBS
- Disabled unused skins from Colorful/Extra/DistinctEnemyVariety in the config to save on cache
- Added the Frigid Capsule to the SellMyScrap sell list
- Fixed the Frigid Capsule not being 7 LBS (lmao)
- Added hints to Dev Log 0 to find the other Dev Logs easier
- Updated outdated Dev Log text
- Fixed the MoreSuits config being missing (it's kept due to Dev Log 6, find it if you want more info)
Version 1.6.8
EMERGENCY UPDATE #2:
(NOTE: THIS INFORMATION IS NOT TRUE, REFER TO VER 1.8.5, KEEPING FOR HISTORY) I have removed OpenBodyCams from the mod pack, it was causing the invisible outside monsters issue for non-host clients while it was inside the ship. I am unsure if it was a mod conflict or the mod itself, it was likely a conflict though. Regardless, I'd rather remove this mod then have to worry about this issue continuing to affect people's time on this mod pack. If the problem is tracked down, I will readd it, but for now it is gone. I did not want to just only remove that and nothing else, so here's some other changes I did so it doesn't feel as awful to immediately install another update!
- Readded the Frigid Capsule from UsualScrap across various moons
- Added a lot of modded scrap to Artifice's loot table, also increased the vanilla game scrap spawn weight a lot
- Increased Artifice's price to 600 credits
- Rebalanced a few scrap spawn weights on Quasara and Catalyst
- Lowered Dine's outside nighttime power to 6 and decreased the Forest Giant spawn weight
- Changed the rare scrap on Experimentation to be something more special (It was not a Zed Dog if you've gotten one)
Version 1.6.7
- Fixed Butler skins not being on Vow, Artifice, Dine, Titan, or Bozoros
- Penumbra can now have pieces of coal from Bozoros spawn
Version 1.6.6
- Slightly lowered the chance of the new rare outdoor spawn on Hawalia
- Doubled Artifice's daytime power for better hive chances
- Added the Puppeteer's voodoo doll to Penumbra's scrap spawns
- Fixed Eyeless Dogs not having skins on Quasara or Espira
Version 1.6.5
- Fixed every single moon (besides Experimentation and Penumbra) not having their true max scrap number
- For an explanation on this one, for some reason, Zeekerss coded the maximum scrap count to decrease by 1 upon loading, Experimentation, for example, has 2 max scrap in the CentralConfig.. config, which is actually 1 max and not 2, I forgot this for every other moon lmao)
- Changed Espira's scrap spawn weights and lowered the interior size a bit
- Added "Jacks AMAZING vanilla like painting PAINTING MOD" (yes, that's really the name, it is genuinely cool though, promise)
Version 1.6.4
- Decreased time to explode Hygroderes by the Zap Gun to 13 seconds, Barbers to 11, and Jesters to 9 (hopefully this is the last update to Zap Gun stuff for a while lol)
- Decreased the chance of the Harbinger spawning on Embrion, Spectate, Catalyst, and Seichi
- This in turn made the Puppeteer's spawn chance increased (besides on Embrion)
- Added a chance for something to spawn on Hawalia
- Removed the Barber spawn from daytime power on Titan
- Added the Puppeteer to the indoor spawns of Espira, it only has one spawn weight, and you'd likely not encounter it there until other things are killed
- Added a mention of the fact you can press the comma key on your keyboard to fix the random inventory softlock bug in the Mod Pack Info log
- This is also NOT a mod's fault by the way, a lot of people still do not know about this bug, so I'm clearing this up: It is 100% a vanilla game bug
- Made Dine and Titan have a hazard level of S
Version 1.6.3
- Hygroderes can now be exploded with the Zap Gun, it takes 15 seconds
- The Puppeteer can no longer be exploded with the Zap Gun due to jank
- Made all monsters explodable with the Zap Gun have flat times until they do
- Changed the default preview setting on the exo-moons catalogue from LLL to "All"
- Cleaned up configs a bit more
Version 1.6.2
- Increased Seichi's spawn curve multiplier to 1.12
- Added LethalPerformance to the mod pack
- Reverted GeneralImprovements' dropship and counter limits to vanilla, due to recent issues
- Updated a hidden log on Spectate
- Fixed bad ENGRISH in the README
Version 1.6.1
If you happened to experience issues playing multiplayer after 1.6.0 released, it should be fixed now after CodeRebirth updates. I am still unsure if that was only me or not, but I'm writing this here JUST in case.
- Added the Puppeteer to the Harbinger's teleportation blacklist
- Added mention of cosmetic visual changes to the README
Version 1.6.0
- Added the Puppeteer (Lord of the Manor) from CodeRebirth, it can primarily spawn on Embrion, Spectate, Catalyst, and Seichi
- Its power level is 4 and has a spawn cap of 1
- You can also explode it with the zap gun! Takes 9.5 seconds to do it
- Decreased Rend's, Dine's, Spectate's, and Espira's interior size
- Fixed money from CodeRebirth being enabled
- Made Penumbra have no time again after learning 0.01 day time speed is not as slow as I thought it would be
- Updated README to be more descriptive of the mod pack, plus fixed some wrong information
- Also added himmie_hg to the special thanks. Appreciate you playing and enjoying my mod pack!
Version 1.5.4
- Removed the reserved TZP-Inhalant slot
- Decreased the indoor power of Vow and Hawalia to 8
- Changed turret spawns across various moons
- Changed a few scrap spawn weights and interior sizes on Seichi and Bozoros
- Fixed Penumbra having no grade screen by making it have time but it goes by at x0.01 speed
- Updated the name of the Mod Pack Info log on Experimentation, it now says to type "Sigurd"
- Fixed the mention of the price of the jetpack being 1500 in Mod Pack Info
- Also fixed the indestructible trees mention on Spectate only saying "tree" like it's a singular one and not all of them
- Removed a few library/API mods from the mod pack, didn't know they weren't required anymore
- Cleaned up the configs included in the mod pack
- Updated the Thunderstore icon to be prettier
Version 1.5.3
- The Belt Bag can no longer carry Easter Eggs, Roses, or other Belt Bags
- It can now carry Garbage Lids though (I know this is not a fair trade off, I just had to nerf this thing and am glad I was able to)
- Disabled the Belt Bag being visible when not holding it
- This MIGHT be controversial, but my reasoning is so it's easier to sit in the Company Cruiser and two-handed juggle specific items
- Enabled the Belt Bag item deny pop up to let people know an item can't be carried by the Belt Bag if attempting to grab it
- Slightly changed the amount of time needed to explode Barbers and the Harbinger with the Zap Gun
- Decreased the Jetpack's base price to 1000 credits
- A new icon on Thunderstore for the mod pack!
Version 1.5.2
- The Harbinger can now be exploded by the Zap Gun... good luck..
- Removed the Ghost Dog from Espira from the 3 moons it spawned on, for various reasons
- Increased Seichi's spawn curve multiplier to 1.07
- Fixed the Zap Gun's new price being clarified in the Mod Pack Info log (it still said it was 75 credits)
- Removed Loadstone from the mod pack due to recent interior desync issues persisting
Version 1.5.1
- Decreased the Zap Gun's price to 60 credits for it to be usable on Experimentation!
- Disabled the flick and taunt functions of the Flick Stick, also changed its colors, both abiding to the recent update
- Alternated the spawn weights of Offense's indoor spawns
- Decreased Symbiosis' max indoor power to 9 and the spawn curve multiplier by 0.4 (1.1 > 1.06)
- Removed Baboon Hawks from Symbiosis' outdoor spawns
- Decreased Embrion's max indoor power to 12
- Fixed Hoarding Bugs not having the Soul Hoarder skin on Embrion
- Moved the hidden log on Embrion to be more easily noticeable
- Also made the center monitor's mention of it a bit more enticing
Version 1.5.0
Happy New Year everyone who has enjoyed, and continues to enjoy Arduous Hardships! Here is a very big update for you all to enjoy! I am very thankful for the reception Arduous has been getting, and I hope my additions will continue to make it enjoyable, have fun!
- After discovering Mirex has custom, immersion breaking music, from LevelMusicLib that plays when spectating, which I cannot get rid of due to LevelMusicLib being a Seichi dependency and people will be idiots and reinstall it, I have replaced it with a different moon named Symbiosis
- Readded Code Rebirth for the snow globe after a friend scolded me I was just using WeatherRegistry wrong initially, sorry!
- Added the Flick Stick scrap mod, its functions of being a tool to stun and it being in the store are disabled
- Decreased the minimum and maximum size multiplier of the Mineshaft and Gray Apartments interiors
- The numbers changed are the same ones Zeekerss used to make Manors slightly smaller and they make an additive size increase from the moon's interior size
- THESE CHANGES ARE STILL A LITTLE EXPERIMENTAL AND MAY BE CUT ENTIRELY IF THEY FEEL TOO NERFED DOWN
- Decreased Rend's and Dine's interior size
- Embrion is now a tier 4 moon and primarily Manor interior again
- Artifice has been changed to a tier 3 moon, with less scrap and a much smaller interior size
- Decreased Spectate's spawn curve multiplier by 0.05 (1.18 > 1.13)
- Reworked the interior spawn weights across all moons for more accurate rarity
- Increased the time until the Harbinger teleports another monster to you after teleporting one to 17 seconds
- The Harbinger can no longer teleport Coil-Heads or the Jester
- Fixed the Harbinger's spawn weights across various moons, initially, I increased it exponentially on moons due to an enemy spawn curve change it received, however, I found out CentralConfig has a setting to flatten all curves, which makes them accurately spawn based off of spawn weights
- This is also what's been causing hives to spawn at random daytime power spawn intervals if you were wondering why that happens, I honestly had the setting on cause I read it wrong initially lol.. I also cannot disable this because it will make Barbers less prominent and ruin Circuit Bees spawning indoors on Catalyst
- Added the mod "Cruiser Additions"
- Decreased the Zap Gun's price to 75 credits
- Barbers can now be exploded by the Zap Gun, it takes 11 seconds of maintaining the electricity stream, this is not as hard as exploding Jesters since the Barber's stun game multiplier is 0.7
- This MIGHT be removed later
- The Jester now takes 9.5 seconds to explode with the Zap Gun
- March now uses the mesa cave type from Chameleon
- The moon that replaced templatemoon now mostly has items exclusive to it spawn, minus a few exceptions
- The moon that replaced templatemoon can now have every cave type
- Fixed the Gray Apartments being able to be on Experimentation due to dungeon injection by tags
- Fixed Hawalia not having Eyeless Dog skins
- Fixed Spectate not having a unique cave type from Chameleon
- Cleaned up some settings in Chameleon's and ArtificeBlizzard's config
- Fixed some bad writing mistakes on the Mod Pack Info log on Experimentation, also added a mention this mod pack shouldn't be played if you don't know how to use melee weapons, and the Barber can be exploded by the Zap Gun now
- Added a mention to a hidden log that a hidden moon it reveals has copyrighted music and how to disable it if it's a problem
Version 1.4.1
- Fixed an error made to the hidden log rewrite from 1.4.0 lol
Version 1.4.0
EMERGENCY UPDATE:
I found out Thunderstore automatically enables mods that are disabled if you include them in the mod pack. This is a problem because HotbarPlus conflicts with GeneralImprovements, but also, the Goldenrod Suit that you've probably seen is not meant to be there immediately, it was meant to be a secret you find out about and follow along with an unlock requirement before enabling it. If you want more info, find a hidden secret. Regardless, I got rid of all mods that were disabled on my end, and I had already been making some content changes before this was discovered, so this is an actual major update, and me breaking my promise from 1.3.2, which I deeply apologize about. I promise with my full soul this will truly be the final content addition update of the mod pack for this year, no more updates unless majorly required. Thank you for reading, and again, enjoy playing!
Actual Patchnotes
- FINALLY replaced Echelon with a different moon, and the replacement was... Spectate!
- Removed CodeRebirth (and the snowglobe therefore) because I hate WeatherRegistry for various reasons and don't want it in my mod pack
- The Jester can now be exploded by the Zap Gun, but it takes ten seconds of constantly maintaining the stream of electricity, if this sounds too OP, I've tried for four hours in testing to do this and have only successfully done this five times, the first two hours of which had no successes, keep in mind that was also with constantly spawning the Jester on the ship with Imperium, in normal games a successful explosion would take even longer to accomplish
- Decreased Zap Gun weight to 0 pounds
- Made the green flashlight cost 0 credits in the shop
- Added new skins added to ExtraEnemyVariety in version 1.9.0 across different moons
- Updated the Mod Pack Info log on Experimentation to mention that Spectate does not have destructible trees via the Cruiser, please keep this in mind if you want to drive on it! Info about optional QoL mods was also removed due to what I said above
- Rewrote a hidden log due to what I said above
- Added CoscoMan to the special thanks in the README, thanks for playing the mod pack :)
1.3.3
Of course, right when I make an update..
- Increased the spawn weight of the Harbinger on a few moons due to the spawn curve changes it received in an update
- Increased the time until another monster is teleported after one by 3 seconds (now 13 seconds)
- Fixed the Harbinger being unable to teleport the Ghost Dog and ???s
1.3.2
- Added CodeRebirth
- PURELY FOR THE SNOW GLOBE, EVERYTHING ELSE IS DISABLED, PLEASE KEEP IT THAT WAY
- Don't worry about caching, disabled features don't cache!
- WeatherRegistry is also included since it's a dependency, but it has no effects on the game, it's just included for people who are too stupid to understand they shouldn't download missing dependencies and will therefore rewrite the config settings of it to default, I learned my lesson from templatemoon, no offense
- Added LevelMusicLib since it's a dependency of a hidden moon, but it doesn't actually do anything itself, the custom music was disabled in the hidden moon's config
- Again, I just got tired of the missing dependency idiocy..
- Updated Useful Zap Gun config since it changed
- Removed the configs for ShowCapacity and Imperium
- Disabled time on the hidden moon that replaced templatemoon
- Also removed the Harbinger spawning from it, I actually did this in 1.3.0, I just forgot to type I did it lol
I promise this is the last non-hotfix update for a while, and also the last update I'll make referencing the secret moon that replaced templatemoon, enjoy the mod pack everyone!
1.3.1
- Removed the mod "ShowCapacity" due to new information coming out about performance issues with it: It was programmed using gameobject.find every single frame, meaning that every frame the game does a full search of the hierarchy for an object
- Removed info on the patchnotes Experimentation can be the Gray Apartments, it was in my plans but the apparatus spawns less on it than Factory, so it can't be on Experimentation at all, sorry for the misinformation
1.3.0
- Added the Gray Apartments interior, it is most frequent on Assurance, Offense, Rend, Embrion, and Echelon
- Added the mod "Useful Zap Gun", it only works on Mask Hornets, the other features are disabled
- Reworked Rend a little bit
- Reworked all interior spawn weights, mostly to accommodate for the Gray Apartments
- Replaced the hazard level display on the ship monitor's info with the primary interior of the moon
- Added and removed a few items from the scrap spawns of the hidden moon that replaced templatemoon (I will always refer to it as this now :3), there is no other moon the new items spawn on also
- Made Embrion and Artifice no longer hidden in the exo-moons catalogue
- Added the mod "FinallyCorrectKeys"
- Small updates to the Mod Pack Info log on Experimentation:
- Clarification HotbarPlus would conflict with GeneralImprovements' settings and the latter's need to be configured
- Clarification the Inverse Teleporter now costs 150 credits
- Added shop items new prices, which I forgot
- Added the Zap Gun can kill Mask Hornets
1.2.3
- Removed the Frigid Capsule from UsualScrap due to an exploit you can do with it by abusing a bug with its movement speed reduction
1.2.2
- Fixed the Harbinger not having 100 spawn weight on a hidden moon, I don't even know when I changed it or why I did, I am sorry for this
1.2.1
- Removed an interior from the hidden moon that replaced templatemoon, as you wouldn't get scrap spawns besides the apparatus from it
- Fixed the moon info being wrongly formatted for the hidden moon that replaced templatemoon
- Added a clarification of the scrap counter to the Mod Pack Info log: It does not factor in if bee hives spawn, if the interior is Mineshaft (March as an exception), if shotguns are from Nutcrackers, if Knives are from Butlers, or the apparatus
1.2.0
- Added the Pocket Watch from UsualScrap to various moons, with changed value ranges and weight
- Removed ShipWindows, has too many issues I'm bothered by personally, also the issue it was meant to fix seems to be on a hidden moon only
- Removed the hidden moon "templatemoon" from the mod pack, as it was causing issues with dependencies being downloaded that were not meant to be included in the mod pack, even with attempts to make it clear they should be deleted.
- It was replaced, but I will not name it. :)
- Replaced Eyeless Dogs with the Ghost Dog for the indoor spawns of a hidden moon
- Added the Ghost Dog to the indoor spawns of a different hidden moon
- Increased the spawn weight of Ghost Girl, the Bracken, and Barbers on a hidden moon
- Added the Walking Cane from UsualScrap to the possible scrap spawns of the moon that replaced templatemoon, good luck getting one
- Updated README and the Mod Pack Info log on Experimentation
1.1.0
- Added the Frigid Capsule scrap from UsualScrap to some moons
- Changed its weight and value ranges also
- Removed GhostGirlFearReset, did not know this was fixed in vanilla
- Fixed Eyeless Dogs not having skins on a moon
- Added ShipWindows to fix the invisible monsters issue, only the floor window is enabled
- Added HotbarPlus to the optional QoL mods
- Updated the description of removing dependencies that are not required, both on the README and the custom log on Experimentation
- Fixed Experimentation saying it had no custom log
1.0.0
- Initial release
