Odins Pantry
Press P to see your three foods, what you could eat or cook right now from your bag and nearby chests, and Odin's best three-food pick for your biome. Read-only planner, never moves items. From the makers of Odin's Almanac.Odin's Pantry
Odin has watched you eat raw mushrooms in the Plains. He has seen the chests full of honey you never touch. He has said nothing, until now.
Press P to open the pantry and see, at a glance:
- In your belly: your three foods, how long each has left, what it's giving you right now (food fades as it runs down), and which are ready for a top-up
- Ready to eat: food in your bag and in nearby chests, best first
- Ready to cook: meals you have every ingredient for, how many you could make, and whether the cauldron, oven or fire you need is close by
- One ingredient short: meals you could almost make, and exactly what's missing
- Odin's pick for your biome: the best three different foods within reach, leaning towards health, stamina or eitr as you prefer, with their total and a verdict on whether it's enough for where you're standing
- A one-line remark from Odin, because he has opinions. Lots of them.
The page stays up for 20 seconds, then fades away over another 5. Press P again to put it away sooner, or while it's fading to keep it a while longer.
What it is, and what it isn't
The pantry is a planner. It reads; it never touches. It doesn't eat for you, cook for you, or move a single turnip between chests. You still open the chest, fill the cauldron and eat the stew yourself. It just tells you what's worth doing before you walk over there.
If you want food eaten for you automatically or a better way to store it, other mods on Thunderstore do that, and they work alongside this one.
How the pantry is filled in
Everything comes from the game's own data, not from a built-in list:
- Foods are any item with health, stamina or eitr when eaten, with the numbers and durations the game itself uses.
- Meals come from the game's recipe list, and cooking from every cooking station in the game (fire, oven, iron grill and so on).
- Your belly is read straight from your character, including how much each food has faded.
So food and recipes added by other mods show up like vanilla ones, and the numbers stay right after Valheim patches rebalance things.
The pantry counts your own inventory plus any chest within 20 metres that you'd be allowed to open. Other players' private chests and chests in someone else's ward are left out, and so are gravestones.
The page reuses the game's own tooltip, so it looks like it belongs.
Configuration
Settings live in BepInEx/config/hevyh2o.valheim.odinspantry.cfg. If you
have a Configuration Manager mod installed, you can also change them in game
(usually F1); this mod doesn't need one.

Things to know
- Odin's pick only uses what you can reach. It picks from food you have and meals you could cook right now. If the best food in the game is three biomes away, he won't mention it.
- The biome verdict is a rule of thumb. Odin compares the pick's health against how much he'd want for each vanilla biome. Biomes added by mods get a pick but no verdict.
- "Ready to cook" counts ingredients, not fuel. You'll still need wood in the fire. A station shown in orange isn't close by, or isn't upgraded enough.
- Times are real minutes, the way the food bar counts them.
- Your eyes only. The pantry is drawn on your screen. Works in single-player and multiplayer, and nobody else needs the mod.
- Hidden when you're busy. No pantry while your inventory, map, menu or chat is open, or when the HUD is hidden.
Also from Odin's tavern
Odin's Free Refills: no stamina costs while the coast is clear. The pantry fills your stamina bar; the refills make sure you never have to look at it at home.
Odin's Wanted Posters: look at a creature and press E to see its health, weaknesses and drops. The posters tell you what drops the meat; the pantry tells you what to cook with it.
Odin's Almanac: press K for a forecast of the next weather changes in your biome. Check the sky, check the pantry, then go.
Odin's Saga: sleep or log out and Odin reads you the saga of your day; press J for a lifetime of deeds. Every meal you burn ends up in the saga. Odin keeps receipts.
Odin's Hearth: press N at home to see your comfort level, what's counting, and the cheapest piece to build next. Eat by the fire, sleep Rested, leave strong.
Odin's Raven Returns: after you die, a raven guards your grave; press H to see where it is, what killed you and what's still waiting there. For when the three-food pick wasn't quite enough.
Odin's Drunk Cam: drink a mead and the world sways; the more meads, the more it sways. Purely visual, with an intensity slider and an off key. Meads count as a proper meal, as far as Odin's concerned.
Odin's Weapon Memories: every weapon remembers what it has killed and earns a name from how it was used, like Storied Frost Greataxe of the Troll's Bane. Eat well: the Scourge of the Troll doesn't name itself.
