Moons/Adamance
Updated a week agoAdamance
| Settings | Description |
|---|---|
| Reduce Cadavers | Cadavers are no longer guaranteed to spawn as soon as the ship lands. To compensate, inside spawn rates are greatly increased. |
| Buff Scrap | Increase scrap counts from 14-16 to 16-18, like before v80. |
| Nerf Eclipse | Eclipse count reduced from 3 to 2. |
| Adjust Interiors | Greatly increases mineshaft chance (pre-v80) and slightly increases manor chance (v50 beta). Mineshaft bonus scrap reduced from +6 to +4. Bonus: Allows butlers to spawn inside again. |
| No Masked | "Masked" will no longer naturally spawn on Adamance. |
Commentary
I honestly feel a lot better about the overall state of Adamance in v80, but there are some specific decisions I would've done differently.
Adamance felt way too chaotic in previous versions, which makes sense because Zeekerss designed it directly after Artifice, and copied most of its spawn settings over. In v80, he sharply curbed the chaos, which is nice, and brings it more in line with the other free moons... but I think some of that chaos was important for Adamance's flavor.
Also, while I really like the Cadaver Growths, and fully support Adamance being their home, I think them being guaranteed to spawn at the start of each day is a bit excessive.
The Reduce Cadavers setting exists to solve both of these problems. Cadavers still have higher spawn chance than the other indoor enemies, so you'll probably still see them before the day is over - and with spawn rates bumped up across the board, you'll likely be dealing with some other threats during the day too. I think Buff Scrap fits nicely with this moderately increased risk level.
I assume Zeekerss reduced the mineshaft chance in v80 because the +6 bonus scrap items were too good for Adamance's reduced difficulty. I do understand that, but aesthetically, mineshafts feel really nice on Adamance. So Adjust Interiors will bring back the old mineshaft chance, and curb the extra scrap a little bit to compensate. I also felt like Adamance being the only free moon with butler spawns was cool for variety, so as a bonus, that will also give Adamance the highest manor chance of all free moons (~5%) and allow butlers to spawn again.
There's not much to say about No Masked. I just feel like Adamance should strongly emphasize the Cadaver Blooms as its main attraction, and "masked" sort of overlap with them and steal the spotlight.
Nerf Eclipse is more of a holdover from previous versions of the mod than anything else. I think Adamance having beefy eclipses is just one of its quirks, but March has an eclipse count of 2, and I suppose new Adamance is a bit closer to March in terms of difficulty. Just use what you like.
