I prefer to play Risk of Rain 2 with COMMAND + SACRIFICE Artifacts. But they are totally optional!

One more final setting to match me and my homies peanut butter playstyle:

In the main menu under gameplay i like to set levels-per-skill-point at 3.

If you want an easier game and/or your friends are using the modded characters but you're happy with Vanilla/RoR1 roster, i would set it to 2. :)
